Introduction: Transport stress (TS) is unavoidable for livestock and poultry in modern agriculture, which not only affects animal welfare, but also to the quality of meat products. Tea polysaccharide (TPS), one of the major bioactive components of tea leaves, has been shown to have anti-stress effects. However, the antagonistic effect of TPS on TS-induced intestinal damage in chicks is unclear.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLineage switch is a rare phenomenon in which acute myeloid leukemia (AML) transforms into acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and vice versa, sharing the same clonal origin. It is more common for AML to relapse as ALL. Cytogenetics, microenvironment, and preceding therapies are associated with lineage switch.

Background: Pathological angiogenesis is crucial for tumor progression, thus targeting neovascularization is regarded as an effective strategy for cancer therapy. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), a specific pro-vascular endothelial regulator, contributes to aberrant tumor angiogenesis.
Objective: To identify sequence polymorphisms of VEGF gene and the effects on breast cancer.

Screening, picking and blending are the three major processing procedures for refining tea. Among them, blending is the key step in improving the appearance and flavor of tea, and can provide a standardized tea product in large quantities. Traditionally, tea blending is performed by experienced blending masters based on the sensory review results of each raw tea.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFTea polysaccharides (TPSs) are receiving increasing attention because of their diverse pharmacological and biological activities. Here, we explored the immunoregulatory mechanisms of TPSs from fresh tea leaves in a mouse model of cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced immunosuppression in terms of gut microbiota and metabolites. We observed that TPSs significantly increased the body weight and alleviated CTX-induced thymus atrophy in the immunosuppressed mice; they also increased the plasma levels of immunoglobulins A and M, interleukin (IL) 1β, IL-6, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and tumor necrosis factor α.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTea plants have a long cultivation history in the world, but there are few studies on polysaccharides from fresh tea leaves. In this study, tea polysaccharides (TPSs) were isolated from fresh tea leaves. Then, we investigated the characteristics of TPSs during in vitro simulated digestion and fermentation; moreover, the effects of TPSs on gut microbiota were explored.

Tulathromycin, a macrolide antibiotic, is used for the treatment of respiratory disease in cattle and swine. The aim of our study was to investigate the and activities of tulathromycin in serum, (non-inflamed) transudate, and (inflamed) exudate against in piglets. The pharmacokinetics properties of tulathromycin were studied for serum, transudate, and exudate using a tissue cage model.
