Childhood exposure to social adversity - including experiences such as poverty, discrimination, violence, family separation, household dysfunction, and maltreatment - is associated with cardiometabolic health problems across the life course. A key question in the field is whether the timing of social adversity matters. To better understand the developmental origins of cardiometabolic disease and the emergence of health disparities, we conducted a systematic review of human observational studies to synthesize the evidence for sensitive periods to social adversity in immune and metabolic development.

Background: Despite increasing research on substance use among migrants and refugees, little attention has been paid to the instruments assessing substance use in these populations. This systematic review examines the suitability of substance use instruments for use in migrant and refugee populations and the quality of the instruments.
Methods: A systematic search of the electronic databases PubMed, Web of Science, PsychINFO, and EMBASE was performed.
The purpose of this study is to establish the scope of literature surrounding the concordance between patients and surrogates when making decisions about life-sustaining therapies in the perioperative setting. This review will lay the foundation for future studies and interventions optimizing perioperative concordance. To understand the performance of surrogates in the context of surgery and the potential for further studies and interventions, we performed a scoping review, according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, of MEDLINE (Ovid SP), Embase (Elsevier), Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate), and the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (EBSCO) for studies published before May 5, 2023.

There are few validated published tools that measure Geriatrics knowledge with a high degree of reliability, and it is unclear how often they are applied to measure learning outcomes among medical trainees.
Objective: We conducted a scoping review of validated Geriatrics knowledge assessment tools for physicians that are available to assess learners' knowledge of Geriatrics, with a particular interest in tool alignment with the Age-Friendly Health Systems Initiative and the Geriatrics 5 Ms framework (Mobility, Mind, Medications, Multicomplexity, Matters Most), which frame the medical student Geriatrics competencies.

Background: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) are highly vulnerable to substance use and substance use-related harms. Existing harm reduction programs do not optimally serve AYA, and there is minimal data regarding harm reduction interventions specific to AYA.
Methods: We conducted a preliminary search in MEDLINE (Ovid) to identify names used to describe harm reduction interventions to include in the final search.
Background: Little is known about the mental health consequences of human rights violations in forcibly displaced populations. Objective: The objectives of this systematic review are to examine: (1) the prevalence of mental health conditions among forcibly displaced persons; (2) to investigate methodological factors contributing to mental health conditions; and (3) associations between mental health conditions and human rights violations.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review with meta-analyses on the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder among forcibly displaced populations and factors contributing to it by searching in databases MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase, Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate), PsycINFO (EBSCO), Sociological Abstracts (ProQuest), and PTSDPubs (ProQuest).
Importance: Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (OCRDs) encompass various neuropsychiatric conditions that cause significant distress and impair daily functioning. Although standard treatments are often effective, approximately 60% of patients may not respond adequately, underscoring the need for novel therapeutic approaches.
Objective: To evaluate improvement in OCRD symptoms associated with glutamatergic medications as monotherapy or as augmentation to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, with a focus on double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trials (RCTs).
The study of prehabilitation and rehabilitation ([p]rehabilitation) to alleviate the sequelae of bladder cancer and its treatment has generated numerous opportunities to improve the quality of life of bladder cancer survivors. The authors conducted a scoping review of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) to identify knowledge gaps in and research directions for (p)rehabilitative support for those affected by bladder cancer. The authors systematically searched six databases and synthesized key findings from RCTs conducted from January 1, 2004, through March 15, 2022, that enrolled participants with bladder cancer, survivors, or caregivers in outpatient (p)rehabilitative programs (e.
