Background: Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) is a form of immediate post-transplant acute lung injury associated with increased risk of mortality, and it is possible that respiratory viruses (RVs) at the time of transplant may augment this.
Methods: We retrospectively studied all adult lung transplant recipients transplanted in our program from 2017 to 2020, with a primary outcome of grade 3 PGD (PGD3), defined as edema on chest X-ray and arterial oxygen/fraction of inspired oxygen ratio <200 at 48- or 72-h post-transplant. RV status was assessed by nucleic acid amplification test on routine bronchoscopic specimens performed on day 1 post-transplant.
Adolescents are vulnerable to experiencing problematic gambling, although its prevalence and potential risk factors vary across countries. This study aims to identify cross-jurisdictional factors associated with higher gambling frequency among adolescents in different European countries, using machine learning. Data were obtained from the European school Survey Project on Alcohol and other Drugs (ESPAD).

The literature has described how different and independent personality profiles (pathways or motives) lead to the same outcome: alcohol misuse. In addition, decision-making styles could also play a role in understanding alcohol misuse better, although the evidence is much more scarce compared to personality traits. The present paper aims to test how personality traits and decision-making styles could be integrated to better understand different pathways/profiles of alcohol misuse.

Contrary to the traditional notion that strictness is necessary to ensure children's conformity to social norms, contemporary studies question its necessity. This study aims to analyze how two main parenting dimensions, warmth and strictness, are related to the psychosocial adjustment of children.

However, its diagnostic utility in periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) remains unexplored. Given the diagnostic challenges of acute postoperative PJI, we hypothesized that synovial glucose could serve as a valuable biomarker and aimed to evaluate its diagnostic accuracy.

Moreover, there is little evidence on its relationship with psychological and family adjustment. Therefore, the aims of this study were to: (1) validate the self-care scale for adults and (2) analyse its external validity, verifying its relationship with general psychological and family adjustment variables.

Virtual Reality (VR) has proven to be a valuable tool for medical and nursing education. VR simulators are available at any time and from anywhere, and can be used with or without faculty supervision, which results in a significant optimization of time, space, and resources. In this paper we present a highly-configurable session designer for VR-based nursing education following the Standards for QUality Improvement Reporting Excellence: SQUIRE 2.

Driving style variation affects safety, with emotional regulation being pivotal. However, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) studies show inconsistent prefrontal cortex activity during emotion processing.

The effects of climate change and the rapid growth of societies often lead to water scarcity and inadequate water quality, resulting in a significant number of diseases. The digitalization of infrastructure and the use of Digital Twins are presented as alternatives for optimizing resources and the necessary infrastructure in the water cycle. This paper presents a framework for the development of a Digital Twin platform for a wastewater treatment plant, based on a microservices architecture which optimized its design for edge computing implementation.

Background: The CAPE Vulnerability Index serves as a worldwide foreign policy indicator that implies which countries should get assistance first. It provides an evidence-based, well-structured, and well-reasoned strategy for employing aid in bilateral arrangements with mental health as a basis.
Objective: The second edition of the CAPE VI has been developed to identify which nations should get priority foreign aid.
This study analyzes whether parental strictness, which is shared by authoritative parenting (strictness and warmth) and authoritarian parenting (strictness without warmth) styles, always acts as a main protective factor against drug use and psychosocial maladjustment in children. This conclusion has already been stated in numerous classic studies, though emergent research suggests that there are benefits to parental warmth regardless of whether strictness is present or not. Sample were 2,095 Spanish participants (1,227 females, 58.

We review the mounting evidence on its convergent and discriminant validity, with an incursion into the less-studied ICD-11 system. In the literature, the AMPD's Pathological Trait Model (Criterion B) shows excellent convergence with normal personality traits, and it could be useful as an organizing framework for mental disorders.
