The release and outgrowth of axillary buds are essential parts of the process of shoot branching in plants, but knowledge of the underlying regulatory mechanisms remains limited. Analysis of mab1-D, a tobacco mutant with a greater number of axillary branches, showed that the mutant phenotype resulted from positive modulation of axillary buds release and outgrowth. TAIL-PCR and co-separation analyses suggested that NtMAB1-S1, a member of the Related to ABI3/VP1 (RAV) subfamily that was highly expressed in the base of axillary buds, was associated with the mutant phenotype.

Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas) starch is in high demand globally as a food and industrial product. However, the regulatory mechanisms governing starch biosynthesis and starch properties in this important crop remain largely unknown. Here we identified a natural allelic variant in the promoter of IbNAC22, encoding a NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2, and CUC2) transcription factor, which is closely linked to starch content in sweetpotato.

Paraffin section is an important technique in histology research, and transparency is the key step connecting the procedures of dehydration and wax immersion in paraffin sectioning technology. However, the commonly used transparent reagent xylene is toxic to the human body and the environment and included in the list of carcinogens. Few biosafe and environmentally friendly transparent reagents have been widely used to replace xylene.

Results: In this study, we identified 57 NtSWEETs in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), and then their physicochemical properties, chromosomal localization, synteny, phylogenetic relationships, genomic structure, promoter cis-elements, protein interaction network, tissue specificity, and expression pattern were systematically analyzed.

Nuclear Factor Y (NF-Y) represents a group of transcription factors commonly present in higher eukaryotes, typically consisting of three subunits: NF-YA, NF-YB, and NF-YC. They play crucial roles in the embryonic development, photosynthesis, flowering, abiotic stress responses, and other essential processes in plants. To better understand the genome-wide NF-Y domain-containing proteins, the protein physicochemical properties, chromosomal localization, synteny, phylogenetic relationships, genomic structure, promoter -elements, and protein interaction network of NtNF-Ys in tobacco ( L.

The reinforcement and preservation of historical silk are crucial for its continued research, heritage, and display. Herein, silk fibroin (SF) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) were utilized as raw materials to reinforce aged silk via two reinforcement methods, with transglutaminase (TGase) serving as a catalytic cross-linking agent. The covalent and non-covalent bond network formed by TGase catalytic cross-linking significantly improved the mechanical properties of aging silk, and CMCS as an antibacterial material gave excellent antibacterial properties of the aged silk.

Here, we report that two bHLH proteins, IbbHLH118 and IbbHLH66, play opposite roles in the ABA-mediated drought response in sweet potato.

In this study, the CYP450 family gene IbCYP82D47 was cloned from the high carotenoid line HVB-3 of sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas). The IbCYP82D47 protein harbored two transmembrane domains and dynamically localized between plastid stroma and membrane.

Participants were 2,237 pregnant and postpartum women (aged 19-47 years) who visited various medical institutions in China between February 28, 2020, and April 26, 2020. They were asked to complete an online survey assessing the anxiety and depression, obstetric characteristics, and sociodemographic variables.

However, the roles and underlying mechanisms of the LCYB gene in plant responses to abiotic stresses are rarely known. This gene has not been used to improve carotenoid contents of sweetpotato, Ipomoea batatas (L.
