However, their dynamic relationships and driving pathways remain poorly understood, especially in high-altitude semi-arid ecosystems. As the world's largest alpine carbon sink, the Qinghai Tibetan Plateau (QTP) is undergoing rapid landscape transformation, threatening the stability of its carbon storage function.

Thecysteamine (AET) pathway is one of the primary metabolic routes involved in taurine biosynthesis, and its role in mollusk taurine synthesis has garnered increasing recognition. In the present study, a cysteamine dioxygenase (ADO) homolog CgADO, the central enzyme of the AET pathway, was identified in C.

This study aimed to determine the prevalence of ultra-massive fluid transfusion and to examine its association with clinical outcomes. We defined an ultra-massive fluid transfusion a priori as a transfusion volume of >20 liters of crystalloids, colloids, blood and blood products administered intraoperatively and within the first 24 hours postoperatively.

Background: Femoral neck fractures in patients with pituitary dwarfism present significant surgical challenges due to anatomical variations, compromised bone quality, and limited therapeutic options. The management of such cases requires careful consideration of both the anatomical constraints of and the potential complications associated with various fixation methods.
Case Presentation: This report presents the case of a 30-year-old female with congenital pituitary dwarfism who sustained a subcapital femoral neck fracture following trauma.

The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is known to have an exceptional ability to accumulate zinc, which endows it with robust resistance to pathogens and makes it an excellent source of dietary zinc. ZIP1 has been identified as an important zinc uptake protein in other species, but its role in oysters remains unclear. In the present study, a ZIP1 homologue (CgZIP1-II) of the Zrt/Irt-like protein (ZIP) family was identified in C.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the potential therapeutic role of Elabela (ELA) in mitigating the sepsis-induced inflammatory storm, a phenomenon commonly associated with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and increased mortality. Our findings show the pathogenesis of sepsis, identifying ELA as a promising therapeutic target.
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of electronic medical records and blood samples from septic patients to assess the incidence of severe organ complication and characterize the inflammatory response.
As evaluation indicators of the primary productivity, the phytoplankton biomass and community structure are of great significance to the fishery industry, which can be driven by ocean currents, nutrients and water stratification. In the present study, the characteristics of phytoplankton assemblages in different water layers of a typical Yesso scallop farming area in Zhangzi Island, the North Yellow Sea were investigated from March 2021 to January 2022. According to the vertical distribution of temperature, water stratification was observed from June to August (stratification period), and disappeared in March, October and the following January with vertical homogeneity (mixing period).

The present zwitterionic hydrogel-based wearable sensor exhibits various limitations, such as limited degradation capacity, unavoidable toxicity resulting from initiators, and poor mechanical properties that cannot satisfy practical demands. Herein, we present an initiator and crosslinker-free approach to prepare polyethylene glycol (PEG)@poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl] dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) (PSBMA) interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogels that are self-polymerized via sunlight-induced and non-covalent crosslinking through electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding among polymer chains. The PEG@PSBMA IPN hydrogel possesses tissue-like softness, superior stretchability (∼2344.

Emerging evidence indicates that the intestinal bacterial communities associated with eukaryotes play critical roles in the physiological activities and health of their hosts. Yesso scallop Patinopecten yessoensis, one of the cold-water aquaculture species in the North Yellow Sea of China, has suffered from massive mortality in recent years. In the present study, P.

Their excellent performance suggests that male nurses have several advantages over female nurses. However, research into the activities of Chinese male nurses engaged in frontline work during the COVID-19 pandemic remains limited.

The intestine and its associated microbiota constitute the first defensive line for the animals against environmental stresses, but their responses to high temperature stress in mollusks are largely unknown. In the present study, the changes of intestinal histology and microbiota were investigated in Yesso scallop Patinopecten yessoensis, a cold-water bivalve species, after high temperature stress.

Objective: To explore how the timing of the initial dressing change influences bacterial growth when alginate dressings were used after peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) line insertion in tumor patients.
Methods: In total, 186 tumor patients who had an alginate dressing after PICC insertion were randomly divided into a control group, observation group one (OG1), and observation group two (OG2). The control group had their first dressing change 48 h after PICC insertion, while OG1 was after 72 h and OG2 was after 96 h after.
High temperature stress is a significant threat to the health of oysters, but the effects on their intestinal performances are not well understood. In this study, the effects of high temperature stress on the intestinal histology, immune response and associated microbiota were investigated in Crassostrea gigas after rearing at 20, 25 and 28 °C for 21 days. With the increase of temperature, shortened and shed microvilli as well as increased goblet cells were observed in the intestines of oysters.
