Background: The role of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) in lung cancer remains inadequately explored, with existing studies reporting conflicting results. This study aimed to investigate the causal relationships between ERS-related genes and lung cancer risk.
Methods: This study used two large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS) datasets on lung cancer and integrated multiomics data, including methylation, expression and protein quantitative trait loci, to determine the causal relationships between methylation, gene expression, protein abundance, and lung cancer risk via summary data-based Mendelian randomization (SMR) and colocalization analyses.
Heat shock protein family B (small) member 8 (HSPB8) promotes chaperone-assisted selective autophagy (CASA), which assures proteostasis in muscles and neurons. HSPB8 frameshift mutations found in neuromyopathies are translated on the same frame, generating the same C-terminal extension, which causes HSPB8 aggregation and proteostasis defects. Here, we describe three novel HSPB8 frameshift variants, translated to protein using the third alternative frame to stop codons downstream to the canonical one and to the one used by other known HSPB8 frameshift mutants.

The groups were cured with 6 % salt, 6 % compound curing agent I, and 6 % compound curing agent II, respectively. The differences in small molecule metabolites and microbial communities in Xuanwei ham among the groups were analyzed.
