Cord blood (CB) transplantation has fallen into disfavor because of its association with low cell dose and high non-relapse mortality (NRM). However, a phase I to II trial using UM171-expanded CB transplantation in patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies who lacked a suitable donor demonstrated promising results, including prompt neutrophil engraftment, the ability to use smaller, better human leucocyte antigen (HLA)- matched CB units, and a low NRM rate of 5%. This retrospective matched paired analysis was conducted to test the hypothesis that UM171-expanded CB transplantation provides outcomes equivalent or superior to those of conventional hematopoietic stem cell donor sources.

Chronic respiratory diseases represent a growing global health challenge, marked by rising prevalence and mortality rates. Inflammatory lung conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), acute respiratory distress syndrome, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis are major contributors to this burden. These disorders are typically associated with persistent inflammation in the airways or lung tissue, resulting in obstructive or restrictive patterns of respiratory dysfunction.

They have been overrepresented repeatedly in studies looking at complications associated with airway management. Whilst generic airway guidelines offer assistance, there are no evidence-based guidelines specific to this group of patients to support safe and effective airway management.

Both probes exhibited distinct spectral responses attributable to their structural differences, with compound demonstrating superior sensitivity. Quantitative analysis revealed a strong linear correlation ( = 0.

Despite their therapeutic benefits, mAbs have been accompanied by a rise in adverse effects, affecting various organ systems including the skin. This systematic review consolidates the current literature on the incidence, characteristics, and management of adverse dermatological events (ADEs) post-mAb treatment, focusing on Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), erythema multiforme (EM), and fixed drug eruption (FDE).

Methods: This retrospective, single-center study included 55 BCL patients (large B-cell lymphoma-LBCL; indolent BCL; and mantle cell lymphoma-MCL) treated with alloHCT from 2015 to 2023 at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont. Primary endpoints were overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS); secondary endpoints included NRM and GVHD incidence.
Blockchain technology is widely used in almost every domain of life nowadays including healthcare sector. Although there are existing frameworks to govern healthcare data but they have certain limitations in effectiveness of data governance to ensure security and privacy. This study aimed to evaluate effectiveness of health care data governance frameworks, examining security and privacy concerns and limitations within the existing frameworks of ISO Standards, GDPR, and HIPAA.

Objective: To evaluate the perspectives and practices of Paediatricians and Obstetricians in Pakistan regarding termination of pregnancy (TOP).
Study Design: A cross-sectional survey. Place and Duration of the Study: Department of Paediatrics, Pak Emirates Military Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan, from January to March 2024.
Background: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common complication among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, limited research has focused on the association between ED and CKD and, highlights a gap in addressing this issue. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of ED and identify the associated factors in patients with DM and CKD.

We report a case of life- threatening congenital diarrhoea in a neonate where the parents initially refused hospital admission despite extensive counselling. Given the severity of the child's condition, legal intervention under the Malaysian Child Act 2001 was necessary to ensure prompt medical care.

Background: Sparing the periprostatic neurovascular bundles during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) improves postoperative erectile function and early urinary continence recovery. The NeuroSAFE technique, a standardised frozen section analysis, enables accurate real-time detection of positive surgical margins during nerve-sparing, increasing the likelihood of successful nerve preservation. However, the impact of the technique on patient outcomes remains uncertain.

We report real-word outcomes of 100 patients treated with axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel, = 50) or tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel, = 50) at our center. Most patients received bridging therapy (BT) with 48 undergoing radiation BT (RBT) and 32 receiving systemic BT (SBT).

Results: Although heat treatment enhanced antioxidant activities, it considerably changed the color of natural honey. In contrast, gamma irradiation and HPP were able to retain the natural color of the honey.
Unlabelled: Oat milk has attracted considerable consumer interest because of its high nutritional value, dietary fiber content, and phytochemical content. High-pressure processing (HPP) increases the shelf life of food while maintaining its nutritional value. However, HPP is known to induce rheological changes.

Methods: Using a forward-mutagenesis Sleeping Beauty (SB) transposon-based screen in a Probasin Cre-Recombinase (Pb-Cre) Pten-deficient mouse model of PC, we identified Arid1a loss as a driver in the development of metastatic disease.
Results: The insertion of transposon in the Arid1a gene resulted in a 60% reduction of Arid1a expression, and reduced tumour free survival (SB:Pten Arid1a median 226 days vs SB:Pten Arid1a 293 days, p = 0.
Background: Cold agglutinin disease (CAD) or syndrome (CAS) can be particularly challenging when autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) is needed. Standard peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection and manipulation involve ex vivo blood manipulations at lower than body temperature, predisposing to agglutination during graft collection, handling, processing, and infusion.
Study Design And Methods: We describe the first case of ASCT for relapsing lymphoma in a patient with high-titer CAD requiring anti-complement therapy and chronic transfusion.
Background: To assess how centralisation of cancer services via robotic surgery influenced positive surgical margin (PSM) occurrence and its associated risk of biochemical recurrence (BCR) in cases of pT2 prostate cancer (PC).
Methods: Retrospective analysis of all radical prostatectomy (RP) cases performed in the West of Scotland during the period from January 2013 to June 2022. Primary outcomes were PSM and BCR.
In this work, we have explored the metal ion sensing properties of two bisbenzimidazole-based fluorescent probes, that differ in their conformational flexibility, in an aqueous medium. The compound with a flexible methyl spacer (1) experienced blue shifts in its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) upon the addition of Hg ions. On the contrary, the compound with a relatively rigid structure (2) showed red shifts in both its absorption and emission maxima (along with a turn-off response) when treated with Hg under similar conditions.

Donor-specific anti-HLA antibodies (DSAs), targeting grafts with mismatched HLA antigens, pose a significant obstacle by increasing the risk of primary graft failure, delayed engraftment, and decreased survival. Existing literature on HLA desensitization has primarily focused on haploidentical transplants, and there is a lack of experience regarding the optimal strategy in UCB transplantation.
