Cord blood (CB) transplantation has fallen into disfavor because of its association with low cell dose and high non-relapse mortality (NRM). However, a phase I to II trial using UM171-expanded CB transplantation in patients with high-risk hematologic malignancies who lacked a suitable donor demonstrated promising results, including prompt neutrophil engraftment, the ability to use smaller, better human leucocyte antigen (HLA)- matched CB units, and a low NRM rate of 5%. This retrospective matched paired analysis was conducted to test the hypothesis that UM171-expanded CB transplantation provides outcomes equivalent or superior to those of conventional hematopoietic stem cell donor sources.

Refusal of medical treatment in paediatric case presents significant ethical and legal challenges, particularly when parental decisions conflict with a child's welfare. We report a case of life- threatening congenital diarrhoea in a neonate where the parents initially refused hospital admission despite extensive counselling. Given the severity of the child's condition, legal intervention under the Malaysian Child Act 2001 was necessary to ensure prompt medical care.

Enhancing CAR-T Efficacy in Large B-Cell Lymphoma with Radiation Bridging Therapy: A Real-World Single-Center Experience.

One challenge of chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T) for relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) is achieving disease control during manufacturing. Application of gamma irradiation and high-pressure processing on physicochemical, antioxidant and microbiological properties of natural honey.

Background: Gamma irradiation (0, 2, 4, 8 kGy) and high-pressure processing (HPP at 400 and 600 MPa for 10 and 20 min) were applied to improve the physicochemical and antioxidant properties and safety of natural polyfloral honey and compared to heat treatment (60 °C).

Results: Although heat treatment enhanced antioxidant activities, it considerably changed the color of natural honey. In contrast, gamma irradiation and HPP were able to retain the natural color of the honey.

In this work, we have explored the metal ion sensing properties of two bisbenzimidazole-based fluorescent probes, that differ in their conformational flexibility, in an aqueous medium.
