Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are implicated in thrombosis and inflammation during acute myocardial infarction (AMI), but their kinetics, local distribution, and clinical relevance remain unclear. We conducted a prospective study in 144 patients with ST-segment elevation (STEMI) and non-ST-segment elevation AMI (NSTEMI) undergoing coronary angioplasty (PCI), quantifying double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), myeloperoxidase (MPO), and neutrophil elastase (NE) in the infarct-related artery (IRA), contralateral coronary artery (CCA), and peripheral blood. Coronary thrombi and DNASE1 Q222R were also analysed.

Kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) has previously been described as a potential circulating biomarker in renal cell carcinoma.
Patients And Methods: Biomarkers and outcomes among patients who participated in a randomized phase III trial of adjuvant atezolizumab versus placebo in resected RCC (IMmotion010) were evaluated.

Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a rare (~2-5% of all thyroid cancers) neuroendocrine thyroid malignancy originating from parafollicular C-cells of the thyroid gland with variable biological behavior and potential for early metastasis. Diagnosis, staging, and surveillance are heavily reliant on circulating biomarkers. We aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of circulating biomarkers in the management of MTC and propose an integrated, evidence-based algorithm to guide clinical decision-making using both established and emerging biomarkers.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is increasingly recognized as a modulator of infection severity, yet its impact on the immune response in severe community-acquired pneumonia (sCAP) remains poorly understood. In this prospective cohort study of 108 adults with sCAP, we evaluated the prevalence and prognostic impact of MASLD and performed pathogen-stratified immune profiling of cytokines and semaphorins on hospital days 1 and 5. MASLD was present in 50% of patients and independently associated with early respiratory failure (OR 3.

BK virus-associated cystitis/urethritis (BK-C) is a major cause of morbidity in allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) recipients. We prospectively followed weekly plasma and urine BK viral loads and associated symptoms in 169 recipients of post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCy)-based HCT. Patients with ≥2 positive BK specimens before day +100 were considered at-risk for developing BK-C.
