Objective: To compare the therapeutic efficacy and safety of local anesthesia and spinal anesthesia for the patients with varicocele (VC) who underwent microsurgical varicocelectomy (MV).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of VC patients who underwent MV treatment at the Andrology Department of the Affiliated Ruikang Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine from May 2020 to March 2023. Cases with complete clinical data and follow-up evaluation were selected and divided into a control group (spinal anesthesia) and an observation group (local anesthesia) according to different anesthesia methods.

Background: Depression and anxiety are prevalent mental health disorders. While sleep duration has been extensively studied, sleep regularity may play a critical role. We aimed to examine associations between objectively measured sleep regularity and incident depression and anxiety and to investigate whether meeting recommended sleep duration modifies these associations.

Background: The effect of Planetary Health Diet (PHD) may differ by sexes, and the associations with cancer risk remain unclear. This study aimed to investigate sex differences in the associations between PHD and overall cancer risk, as well as the joint effects of PHD and genetic risk.

Methods: This study included 177,441 participants from the UK Biobank.

Background: The dietary index for gut microbiota (DI-GM) is a newly proposed index that evaluates dietary intake patterns associated with gut microbial health. Limited studies have examined whether DI-GM influences gastrointestinal (GI) cancer risk. We aimed to investigate the association between DI-GM and GI cancer risk and evaluate its combined effect with genetic risk.

Objective: To examine the comprehensive health impacts of exercise on people with cancer by systematically summarising existing evidence and assessing the strength and reliability of the associations.

Design: Umbrella review of meta-analyses.

Data Source: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane and Web of Science databases were searched from their inception to 23 July 2024.

Background: Emerging evidence underscores the potential application of artificial intelligence (AI) in discovering noninvasive blood biomarkers. However, the diagnostic value of AI-derived blood biomarkers for ovarian cancer (OC) remains inconsistent.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the research quality and the validity of AI-based blood biomarkers in OC diagnosis.

Background: Diet and genetic risk are risk factors for colorectal cancer (CRC). The interaction between the EAT (Lancet Commission on healthy diets from sustainable food systems)-Lancet diet and genetic variants on CRC risk remains unclear.

Objectives: We aim to investigate the association between EAT-Lancet diet and CRC risk and to evaluate its combined effect with genetic risk on CRC risk.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a heterogeneous malignancy with multiple histological subtypes, showing global variability in incidence. Temporal changes in diagnostic criteria and risk factors might influence the incidence and distribution of OC and its subtypes.

Methods: This study analyzed incidence patterns (2013-2017) and trends (1988-1992 to 2013-2017) of OC and its subtypes across 65 and 40 countries, respectively.
