Objective: To assess the effect of complete decongestive therapy (CDT) and lymphedema microsurgery (LM) on the natural progression of extremity lymphedema.
Summary Background Data: The natural progression of extremity lymphedema includes interstitial lymph accumulation, frequent cellulitis, adipose deposition, and fibrosis, which remain unexplored.
Methods: Prospectively collected data of patients with extremity lymphedema managed with either CDT (61 patients) or LM (118 patients) with a follow-up of 2 years between November 2011 and September 2019 were analyzed.
Rapid industrialisation has resulted in severe greenhouse gas emissions through extensive fossil fuel extraction and an increasing volume of solid waste disposal. This perspective review examines the photoelectrochemical (PEC) valorisation of organic waste as a promising solution for addressing the energy crisis and environmental pollution. The current stage of PEC organic valorisation has yet to meet industrial requirements, hindered by its relatively low efficiency, limited robustness, and poor scalability compared to conventional technologies.

Unlike wearable sensor systems that require user compliance, Wi-Fi channel state information (CSI) enables device-free recognition by capturing variations in signal propagation caused by human motion. This makes Wi-Fi sensing highly attractive for ambient healthcare, security, and elderly care applications.

Electrochemical CO reduction (e-CORR) to multicarbon (C) products serves as a sustainable route for renewable energy storage, chemical synthesis, and mitigating CO emission. In this study, we report on the CuI microcrystals modified gas-diffusion electrode (microCuI), prepared with the successive ion layer adsorption and reaction method, with high-performance towards the generation of C products from e-CORR. The microCuI electrode exhibited remarkably high current efficiency towards the generation of C products (i.

Background: The aging population is experiencing a rising incidence of musculoskeletal problems and degenerative spinal deformities. Adult spinal deformity (ASD) presents challenges, with associated risks in open surgery. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is becoming increasingly popular due to its positive outcomes and potential benefits.

IEP cells contain multiple cell types, including progenitor cells, which can differentiate into hair-progenitor or neuro-progenitor cells. Accurate cell detection is essential to understand cell interactions and optimize culture conditions, ultimately reducing the sacrifice of mice.

Event-related potentials have been shown to provide valuable information about a patient's chance of survival and emergence from coma. Our prior work revealed that the mismatch negativity (MMN) in particular waxes and wanes across 24 h in some coma patients.

Herein, we report on a P:NiFe electrode, containing P-doped NiFe alloy, as an excellent electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and OER pre-catalyst for efficient OER in both seawater and organic electrolyte for adiponitrile (ADN) electrosynthesis at neutral pH. Fe and P species modulate the coordination environment of nickel sites, which enables the simultaneous formation of OER-active nickel species and FePO passivation layer, thus transforming HER-active P:NiFe to OER-active a-P:NiFe.

Amyloid fibrils' superior stiffness and stability, outstanding biocompatibility and biodegradability, versatile functional groups, and high specific surface area make them promising sustainable adsorbents. This study is aimed at examining the application of three-dimensional polysaccharide-modified whey protein amyloid fibril (WPIAF) aerogels in oil/water separation and emulsion separation.

Background: Results on whether N-acetylcysteine (NAC) ameliorates depression in patients with psychiatric problems, such as bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder, remain inconsistent, and several new studies have recently been published. Thus, we conducted an uptodated meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of NAC against depression.
Methods: This systematic review and meta-analysis included randomized controlled trials where NAC was used to treat depression.

A highly efficient electrocatalytic platform based on formed metallic bismuth submicron crystals (Bi) was developed for 4-aminophenol electrosynthesis the electrochemical reduction of 4-nitrophenol at acidic pH. The facile formation and high reactivity of Bi enable efficient electrosynthesis of 4-aminophenol with high selectivity (∼100%) at the expense of an ultra-low overpotential.

The relationship between metastasis-associated protein 2 (MTA2) overexpression and tumor growth and metastasis has been extensively studied in a variety of tumor cells but not in human osteosarcoma cells. This study aims to elucidate the clinical significance, underlying molecular mechanisms, and biological functions of MTA2 in human osteosarcoma and . Our results show that MTA2 was elevated in osteosarcoma cell lines and osteosarcoma tissues and was associated with tumor stage and overall survival of osteosarcoma patients.

In this study, we describe the case of a 34-year-old male with no prior medical history who presented with symptoms of right-sided weakness and slurred speech, suggesting an acute ischemic stroke. Initial CT angiography revealed an occlusion in the left M2 segment middle cerebral artery (MCA).

Methods: A literature search of public databases was conducted up to Nov 15, 2023 using combinations of the key words "sarcopenia" and "lumbar spine surgery". Eligible studies were those that focused on adults undergoing decompression or fusion surgery for degenerative lumbar spine diseases, and compared the outcomes between patients with and without preoperative sarcopenia.
Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), consisting of N-domain and C-domain, is a key regulator of blood pressure. The use of cACE-specific inhibitors helps minimize side effects in clinical applications. Legumes are a good source of proteins containing ACE inhibitory peptides; however, no studies have reported the identification of cACE-specific inhibitory peptides from Fabaceae.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy is a highly promising strategy for clinical treatment of cancer. Among these inhibitors, ipilimumab stands out for its ability to induce cytotoxic T cell proliferation and activation by binding to CTLA-4. However, ipilimumab also gives rise to systemic immune-related adverse effects and tumor immune evasion, limiting its effectiveness.
