Background: Clinical notes house rich, yet unstructured, patient data, making analysis challenging due to medical jargon, abbreviations, and synonyms causing ambiguity. This complicates real-time extraction for decision support tools.
Objective: This study aimed to examine the data curation, technology, and workflow of the named entity recognition (NER) pipeline, a component of a broader clinical decision support tool that identifies key entities using NER models and classifies these entities as present or absent in the patient through an NER assertion model.
Probiotics are widely used to improve intestinal health and production performance in the poultry industry. However, few studies have explored the effects of heat-killed probiotics. This study investigated the effects of a heat-killed probiotic mixture, comprising (BS) and 28 (LP28), on the growth performance, intestinal morphology, antioxidant capacity, and meat quality of broilers.

However, there are very few reports on the performance of ML models for delirium risk stratification in live clinical practice.
Objective: To report on development, operationalization, and validation of a multimodal ML model for delirium risk stratification in live clinical practice and its associations with workflow and clinical outcomes.

The preservation of fresh beef is crucial for ensuring food safety and quality; we do not know whether changing the packaging method can mitigate the negative effects of ozone on meat and even enhance its positive impact. Beef samples were treated with ozone and packaged using the vacuum or PVDC-tray methods, then stored at 4 °C for 7 days.

Minor ginsenosides are a class of processed saponins with minor natural content, high bioavailability, and outstanding bio-logical activity, which are usually obtained by biological or chemical transformation of prototype saponins directly extracted from Panax plants. In recent years, with the clarification of the biosynthetic pathway of saponins and the development of synthetic biology, it has become possible to use synthetic metabolic engineering methods with microorganisms as hosts to produce saponins. Minor ginsenosides have received widespread attention because of their remarkable biological activities in enhancing the immune function of the body and antitumor property.

We hypothesized that real-time machine learning generated alerts sent directly to front-line providers would reduce escalations.
Design: Single-center prospective pragmatic nonrandomized clustered clinical trial.
Background: Malnutrition is associated with increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Early detection is important for timely intervention. This paper assesses the ability of a machine learning screening tool (MUST-Plus) implemented in registered dietitian (RD) workflow to identify malnourished patients early in the hospital stay and to improve the diagnosis and documentation rate of malnutrition.

Chromosomes are a principal target of clinical cytogenetic studies. While chromosomal analysis is an integral part of prenatal care, the conventional manual identification of chromosomes in images is time-consuming and costly. This study developed a chromosome detector that uses deep learning and that achieved an accuracy of 98.

To obtain chicken essence with high amounts of BCAA, spent hens herein was used to prepare dripped chicken essence (SCE) and compared with commercial dripped chicken essence (CCE) for in vivo anti-fatigue effect.
Methods: To determine the effect on anti-fatigue by dripped chicken essence, the exhaustive swimming was performed.
In order to breed a strain that has heat tolerance and meat productivity, the commercial red-feathered Taiwan native chickens were male (F group), and heat stress resistant strain Taiwan native chickens (Taishu-9, bred by the Taiwan Livestock Research Institute) were female (TR9 group) to hybridize to generate offspring (F9 group). Three breeds of birds (male) were conducted to compare acute heat stress and meat quality. At 12 weeks of age, TR9 group showed the significantly lowest activity of plasma creatine kinase upon acute heat stress which indicated heat stress resistant in TR9 group as expected.

The present study investigated the effects of chikusetsu saponin Ⅳa(CHS Ⅳa) on isoproterenol(ISO)-induced myocardial hypertrophy in rats and explored the underlying molecular mechanism. ISO was applied to establish a rat model of myocardial hypertrophy, and CHS Ⅳa(5 and 15 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)) was used for intervention. The tail artery blood pressure was measured.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) was induced by high-sugar and high-fat diet in mice to investigate the intervention effect of total saponins from Panax japonicus(TSPJ) and explore its possible mechanism. Mice were fed with high-sugar and high-fat diet to establish NASH model, and intervened with different doses of TSPJ(15, 45 mg·kg~(-1)). The animals were fed for 26 weeks.

The aim of this paper was to investigate the effect of total polysaccharide from Balanophora henryi(TBP) on alcoholic liver disease(ALD) and explore the possible mechanism. C57 BL/6 N mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: pair-feeding group, alcohol-feeding model group, model+TBP group and TBP drug control group. The Gao-binge method was used to prepare the chronic ALD model, and at the same time, 400 mg·kg~(-1) TBP was given for interventional therapy.

Development of highly accurate malnutrition screening tools is, therefore, essential for its timely detection, for providing nutritional care, and for addressing the concerns related to the suboptimal predictive value of the conventional screening tools, such as the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST). We aimed to develop a machine learning (ML) based classifier (MUST-Plus) for more accurate prediction of malnutrition.

A rapid surge in cases of severe COVID-19 will lead to a corresponding surge in demand for ICU care. Because of constraints on resources, frontline healthcare workers may be unable to provide the frequent monitoring and assessment required for all patients at high risk of clinical deterioration.

The blood plasma protein hydrolysate (BPH) and blood cell protein hydrolysate (BCH) were analyzed for pH value, peptide content and antioxidative properties. The significantly higher peptide contents were observed in BPH than that of BCH, which showed that blood plasma protein was more suitable to hydrolysis by alcalase than blood cell protein.
