Probiotics are widely used to improve intestinal health and production performance in the poultry industry. However, few studies have explored the effects of heat-killed probiotics. This study investigated the effects of a heat-killed probiotic mixture, comprising (BS) and 28 (LP28), on the growth performance, intestinal morphology, antioxidant capacity, and meat quality of broilers.

The key to enhancing water electrolysis efficiency lies in selecting highly efficient catalysts. Currently, high-entropy alloys (HEAs) are utilized in electrocatalysis applications owing to their diverse elemental composition, disordered elemental distribution, and the high solubility of each element, endowing them with excellent catalytic performance. The experiments were conducted using isoatomic FeNiCrMo HEA as a precursor, with a high-activity three-dimensional nanoporous structure rapidly synthesized via electrochemical one-step dealloying in a choline chloride-thiourea (ChCl-TU) deep eutectic solvent (DES).

Immunotherapy has dramatically changed the landscape of treatment for colorectal cancer (CRC), but currently lack of effective predictive biomarker, especially for tumors with mismatch repair (MMR) proficiency. The response of immunotherapy is associated with the cell-cell interactions in tumor microenvironment, encompassing processes such as cell-cell recognition, binding, and adhesion. However, the function of immunoglobulin superfamily (IGSF) genes in tumor immune microenvironment remains uncharacterized.

Aims: Gastric hypersensitivity (GHS) is a characteristic pathogenesis of functional dyspepsia (FD). DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) and acid-sensing ion channel 1 (ASIC1) are associated with GHS induced by prenatal maternal stress (PMS). The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of DNMT1 mediating the analgesic effect of folic acid (FA) on PMS-induced GHS.

In the Montreal classification, L4 Crohn's disease (CD) is defined as an ileal disease, including L4-esophagogastric duodenum (EGD), L4-jejunum, and L4-proximal ileal involvement. According to the previous studies, the prognosis of L4 disease was worse than that of non-L4 disease. Among L4 diseases, the phenotypes of L4-jejunum and L4-proximal ileum indicated that the risk of abdominal surgery was higher.

Aims: Visceral hypersensitivity is a major clinic symptom in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is involved in processing the information of pain. Both G protein-coupled receptor kinase 6 (GRK6) and P2Y purinoceptor 6 (P2Y6) are associated with neuroinflammation and pathological pain.

: To determine whether acid-sensing ion channel 1 (ASIC1)-sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter 1 (NKCC1) signaling pathway participates in chronic visceral pain of adult rats with neonatal maternal deprivation (NMD). : Chronic visceral pain was detected by colorectal distension (CRD). Western blotting and Immunofluorescence were performed to detect the expression and location of ASIC1 and NKCC1.

Aims: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disease characterized by abdominal pain. Our recent study has shown that the acid-sensitive ion channel 1 (ASIC1) in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) is involved in stomachache of adult offspring rats subjected with prenatal maternal stress (PMS). MiR-485 is predicted to target the expression of ASIC1.

Article Synopsis
  • Neisseria meningitidis causes bacterial meningitis, which can be deadly, highlighting the need for rapid and cost-effective diagnostic tools, particularly in economically disadvantaged regions.
  • A pooled-analysis of 14 studies showed that the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay has high sensitivity (94%) and specificity (100%) for detecting meningococcus, indicating strong diagnostic accuracy.
  • The LAMP assay is an affordable and user-friendly alternative to traditional methods like bacterial culture and PCR, making it suitable for use in areas with limited resources.

Background: At present, the infection and prevalence rates of tuberculosis (TB) are still high in worldwide. The Xpert MTB/RIF technology has improved the diagnosis speed of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) and facilitated the rapid treatment of TB patients.

Methods: We searched experimental data derived from Xpert MTB/RIF for detecting MTB in gastric aspirates in PubMed, Embase, Web Of Science, and the Cochrane Library databases between January 2012 to April 2019.

Aims: The arcuate nucleus is a vital brain region for coursing of pain command. G protein-coupled kinase 6 (GRK6) accommodates signaling through G protein-coupled receptors. Studies have demonstrated that GRK6 is involved in inflammatory pain and neuropathic pain.

Functional dyspepsia is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder. Gastric hypersensitivity (GHS) is a hallmark of this disorder, but the cellular mechanisms remain largely unknown. Stressors during gestational period could have effects on the offspring's tissue structure and function, which may predispose to gastrointestinal diseases.
