Palyam serogroup virus (PALV) is a potential pathogen prevalent in Asia, Australia, and Africa that may cause abortion and teratogenesis in ruminants, especially cattle. In this study, we isolated three PALV strains (MY_C17, ML_C40, and SZ_C06) from spp. in Yunnan, China, and obtained their complete genome sequences via next-generation sequencing.

Arboviruses, transmitted to humans and animals by blood-feeding arthropods, pose significant public health risks. This study investigates the types, distribution, and epidemiology of arboviruses in the central Yuxi region of Yunnan Province, providing crucial data for the prevention and control of mosquito-borne diseases. In 2015, mosquitoes were collected from Tonghai County, Huaning County, Jiangchuan District, and Chengjiang County in Yuxi using light traps.

Background: Enterovirus G (EV-G) is widely prevalent in pigs worldwide, and co-infections of EV-G and other diarrhea-causing pathogens have been reported in many countries, threatening the pig farming industry. There are some methods available for EV-G detection; however, the RT-LAMP method for detecting EV-G has not yet been developed. The aim of thisstudy was to establish a highly sensitive and visual RT-LAMP assay for the detection of EV-G.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is a globally prevalent swine pathogen that induces immunosuppression, predisposing pigs to subclinical infections. In intensive farming systems, PCV2 persistently impairs growth performance and vaccine efficacy, leading to substantial economic losses in the swine industry. Emerging evidence suggests that certain viruses exploit Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling 3 (SOCS3), a key immune checkpoint protein, to subvert host innate immunity by suppressing cytokine signaling.

(Diptera, Ceratopogonidae) are small biting midges and are known as vectors for many arboviruses, including bluetongue virus (BTV) and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV). Tengchong County of Yunnan Province, China, which borders Myanmar, has many private farms with goats, sheep, and cattle. To estimate the risk of -borne viral diseases such as bluetongue (BT) and epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) in this area, an investigation of the diversity and abundance of in Tengchong between May 2024 and April 2025 was performed.

Yunnan Province is an area in China with a major prevalence of biting arthropods (including mosquitos, ticks, and ) and arboviruses including dengue virus (DENV), bluetongue virus (BTV), and epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV). Therefore, attempts to isolate and detect arboviruses are frequently conducted in Yunnan during the past decades. In this study, a total of three viral strains/isolates (LF6-4, LF3-1, and LF6C2) previously isolated from cattle, goat, and in Lufeng County, Yunnan Province, between 2022 and 2023 were used for whole-genome sequencing, phylogenetic analysis, and electron microscopic analysis.

The Pomona roundleaf bats (Hipposideros pomona) have unique ecological and physiological adaptations to various habitats in South Asia, including China. Despite its ecological significance, the gut microbiota plays a key role in regulating host immunity and reproductive physiology, possibly connecting microbial dynamics to fertility outcomes. In this study, we used V3-V4 16 S rRNA high-throughput sequencing to elucidate the diverse microbiota structure of pregnant and non-pregnant female H.

We sequenced and analyzed the whole mitochondrial genomes of four species of dung beetles, including , , , and from the Scarabaeinae subfamily. The results showed that the mitochondrial genome sizes of the four dung beetle species ranged from 14,977 bp to 18,425 bp.

Unlabelled: Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) is a noncontagious viral infection transmitted by certain species of the genus and has been included on the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) list of diseases affecting domestic and wild ruminants. This study isolated four serotypes of EHDV strains (EHDV-1, -5, -6, and -7) from three species collected in Yunnan Province, China. The phylogenetic analysis of Seg-3 revealed that EHDVs can be classified into two groups based on their geographical origins: Eastern and Western.

Dietary protein levels greatly influence gut microbial ecosystems; however, their effects on gut archaea and associated functions in ruminants require further elucidation. This study evaluated the impact of varying dietary protein levels on gut archaeal composition, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes, virulence factors, and functional capacities in sheep. Eighteen ewes (Yunnan semi-fine wool breed, uniparous, 2 years old, and averaging 50 ± 2 kg body weight) were randomly assigned to diets containing an 8.

Protein balance in ruminants' dietary regimens is crucial since it influences not just the production, fertility, and health of these animals, but also reduces worldwide environmental concerns regarding methane emissions. The current experiment explored the influence of dietary protein levels on nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus metabolism and their environmental excretion using the Yunnan semi-fine wool sheep (YSFW) as the animal model. For this, 25 YSFW sheep (male, 10-month-old, averaging live body weight 38.

Pseudorabies (PR), an infectious disease caused by pseudorabies virus (PRV), has been responsible for substantial economic losses within the global swine industry. However, effective control measures and vaccines against PRV remain limited, thereby underscoring the necessity for the development of innovative antiviral agents targeting PRV. Nitazoxanide (NTZ) is an FDA-approved anthelminthic drug, has shown efficacy in inhibiting a variety of viral infections.

With economic development and improved living standards, the demand for mutton and wool continues to grow, and improving the production performance and genetic potential of sheep breeds has become the key to promoting the high-quality development of the sheep industry. Thus, this study analyzes the influencing factors of the early production traits of Yunnan semi-fine wool sheep, optimizes the genetic evaluation model, and relies on accurate genetic parameter estimation to provide a theoretical basis for formulating a scientific and efficient breeding strategy for this breed. Data were collected from the Laishishan and Xiaohai breeding farms in Qiaojia, Yunnan, covering production records of the core flock from 2018 to 2022.

This study compared two semen collection methods-artificial vagina (AV) and electro-ejaculator (EE)-to evaluate their effects on sperm quality and the metabolomic profile of goat seminal plasma (SP). Semen samples were analyzed for sperm characteristics, and SP was assessed using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization quadrupole Orbitrap mass spectrometry. Sperm collected via AV showed lower ejaculate volume but significantly higher concentration and motility than EE.

In order to investigate the causes of swine diarrhea in Yunnan Province, this study was conducted to detect and monitor diarrhea viruses through regular sampling and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). In October 2023, porcine sapelovirus (PSV) was detected in fecal specimens collected from diarrheal pigs in Honghe City, and three strains of PSV were successfully isolated by inoculating them into PK-15 cells; electron microscopy revealed virus particles with diameters of ~32 nm. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) revealed that the PSV isolate genomes ranged from 7480 to 7515 nucleotides in length.

Pseudorabies virus (PRV), the causative agent of Aujeszky's disease, is an infectious pathogen that significantly impacts the global swine industry. The broad host range of PRV enables it to infect various animals, including pigs, cattle, minks, dogs, and even humans. Although PRV infections in ruminants have been reported, the occurrence of natural PRV infection in goats has not been documented.
