Inorg Chem

September 2025

Área Química Inorgánica, Departamento Estrella Campos, Facultad de Química, Universidad de la República, 11800 Montevideo, Uruguay.

Isostructural metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) built from oxidiacetate, oda, [LaCo(oda)(HO)]·14HO (), [PrCo(oda)(HO)]·14HO (), and [LaNi(oda)(HO)]·14HO () were synthesized and characterized to investigate their proton conduction properties. The presence of a hydrogen-bonding network formed by guest water molecules within the MOF channels was evidenced through crystallographic analysis and computational simulations. Powder conductivity measurements revealed a Grotthuss-type proton transport mechanism with consistent activation energies across all three compounds, but grain boundary effects limited overall performance.

The study aimed to determine whether confinement with TMR during the first 21 DIM, followed by grazing supplemented with partial mixed ration (PMR), alleviates negative energy balance, enhancing productive performance and accelerating the resumption of ovarian cyclicity in primiparous and multiparous dairy cows, relative to a control group managed on grazing supplemented with PMR after calving. Following calving, 16 primiparous and 24 multiparous Holstein dairy cows were blocked and randomly distributed into 2 treatments: one included grazing plus supplementation with PMR after calving (T0), while the other one involved confinement with TMR ad libitum during the first 21 DIM and the same feeding management of T0 from d 22 onwards until 60 DIM (T21). Primiparous cows showed no significant differences between treatments in milk production.

J Immunoassay Immunochem

September 2025

Área Inmunología, Departamento de Biociencias (DEPBIO), Facultad de Química, Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay.

Immunoassays are complementary diagnostic tools in human cystic echinococcosis (CE) despite sensitivity/specificity limitations, and synthetic peptides have been suggested to potentially overcome disadvantages reported for traditional antigens. Herein, a systematic study comparing the immunodiagnostic performance of AgB1 versus synthetic peptides derived from its sequence was carried out. Thus, a eukaryotic-expressed recombinant AgB1 was assessed, together with a reported synthetic peptide (p176, N-terminal portion of AgB1) and two new peptides within p176 (namely pB1a and pB1b) corresponding to predicted linear B-cell epitopes.
