For decades, the sulfido molybdenum complexes like [MoS ] , [Mo S ] , [Mo S ] have gained great attention because of their chemical versatility as well as their structural similarity to the edge-plan of the molybdenum disulfide (MoS ) which shows promising catalytic ability for the H generation. In this work, we report on the investigation of the dinuclear complex [Mo S ] in both organic and aqueous solution. We demonstrate that [Mo S ] is not intact during the H evolution catalysis when it is assayed as a homogeneous catalyst in an electrolyte solution (e.

Microplastics (MPs) are increasingly being studied because they have become ubiquitous in aquatic and terrestrial environments. However, little is known about the negative effects of co-contamination by polypropylene microplastic (PP MPs) and heavy metal mixtures on terrestrial environment and biota. This study assessed the adverse effects of co-exposure to PP MPs and heavy metal mixture (Cu, Cr, and Zn) on soil quality and the earthworm Eisenia fetida.

Male infertility is a growing health problem, which affects approximately 7% of the global male population. Nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) is one of the most severe forms of male infertility caused by genetic defects, including chromosome structural abnormalities, Y chromosome microdeletions, or single-gene alterations. However, the etiology of up to 40% of NOA cases is unidentified.

In this work, we develop a mussel-inspired biosorbent combined with graphene oxide for removal of organic dyes in water sources. The composite was prepared via self-polymerization of dopamine in weak alkaline solution containing graphene oxide at ambient condition. Morphological and structural studies revealed that polydopamine has gradually grown to cover the surface of graphene oxide flakes, partially reduced these flakes, and somehow form many grains (size around 20 nm) on the flakes instead of making very large aggregates as usual.

The use of metal-organic framework materials in electrochemical sensors has been gaining more attention in the last few years due to their highly porous structure and electrocatalytic activity. In this work, a novel paracetamol electrochemical sensor based on a Cu-BTC microporous film electrochemically grown onto glassy carbon electrode was introduced. The Cu-BTC film was deposited directly onto the electrode surface an electrochemical approach using a EtN probase to accelerate the growth of Cu-BTC.

Cobalt-promoted molybdenum sulfide (CoMoS) is known as a promising catalyst for H evolution reaction and hydrogen desulfurization reaction. This material exhibits superior catalytic activity as compared to its pristine molybdenum sulfide counterpart. However, revealing the actual structure of cobalt-promoted molybdenum sulfide as well as the plausible contribution of a cobalt promoter is still challenging, especially when the material has an amorphous nature.

During the process of adapting to metal contamination, plants produce secondary metabolites that have the potential to modulate multidrug-resistant (MDR) phenotypes; this is achieved by inhibiting the activity of efflux pumps to reduce the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of antimicrobial substrates. Our study evaluated the effect of secondary metabolites of belowground parts of L. and two metal-tolerant plants from northern Vietnam, on six antibiotic-resistant strains possessing efflux pump resistance mechanisms that were isolated from soil and clinical samples.

Induced mutations in the SC-uORF of the tomato transcription factor gene SlbZIP1 by the CRISPR/Cas9 system led to the high accumulation of sugar and amino acid contents in tomato fruits. Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) is one of the most popular and consumed vegetable crops in the world. Among important traits for tomato improvement such as yield, biotic and abiotic resistances, appearance, post-harvest shelf life and fruit quality, the last one seems to face more challenges because of its genetic and biochemical complexities.

Golden Camellias have recently been used as a food, cosmetic, and traditional medicine in China and Vietnam. Forty-two species have natural distribution in Vietnam, of which thirty-two species were considered endemic species of this country. The morphology of leaves and flowers of these species were similar; therefore, their taxonomic identification usually needed experts and the authentication has often been confused among species.

The oncogenic transcription factor ZNF217 orchestrates several molecular signaling networks to reprogram integrated circuits governing hallmark capabilities within cancer cells. High levels of ZNF217 expression provide advantages to a specific subset of cancer cells to reprogram tumor progression, drug resistance and cancer cell plasticity. ZNF217 expression level, thus, provides a powerful biomarker of poor prognosis and a predictive biomarker for anticancer therapies.

The effect of the density of active molecules in molecular junctions (MJs) has been investigated by using a host/guest strategy. Mixed layers consisting of oligothiophene (BTB) encapsulated by β-cyclodextrin (BTB@β-CD) were generated. Cyclodextrins were then removed, and the pinholes generated were filled with BTB to obtain BTB@BTB films.

Manganese dioxide nanomaterials have wide applications in many areas from catalysis and Li-ion batteries to gas sensing. Understanding the crystallization pathways, morphologies, and formation of defects in their structure is particularly important but still a challenging issue. Herein, we employed an arsenal of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), neutron diffraction, positron annihilation spectroscopies, and calculations to investigate the evolution of the morphology and structure of α-MnO nanomaterials prepared via reduction of KMnO solution with CHOH prior to being annealed in air at 200-600 °C.

In this paper, a novel bimetallic Fe-Cu metal-organic framework combined with 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (Fe-Cu-BTC) are synthesized using hydrothermal reaction. The bimetallic Fe-Cu-BTC with high BET (1504 cm g) and high Langmuir surface area (1831 cm g) is composited by gold nanoparticles to improve the conductivity and to develop their synergistic effect. A novel bisphenol A (BPA) sensor was prepared by dropcasting Fe-Cu-BTC on glassy carbon electrodes (GCE) followed by AuNPs electrodeposition.

The paper demonstrates the effect of the chemical conformation of the -COOH group on the transport characteristic including conductance, rectification, and length effect in molecular junctions (MJs) formed by self-assembled monolayers of carboxylic-terminated thiol molecules. For an alkyl chain shorter than C, the transport mechanism was attributed to a direct off-resonant tunneling of a hole carrier, located at the Au-S interface, whereas a hopping mechanism was assigned to the alkyl chain longer than the C chain located at the -COOH group. The hopping mechanism may be operated by electron transport associated with the breaking of the -OH bonding likely driven by a voltage.
