Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by systemic inflammation and lymphadenopathy. Two major clinical subtypes, idiopathic plasmacytic lymphadenopathy (iMCD-IPL) and iMCD with thrombocytopenia, anasarca, fever, renal dysfunction/reticulin fibrosis, and organomegaly (iMCD-TAFRO), exhibit distinct pathophysiologic mechanisms. While interleukin-6 (IL-6) is known to be elevated in iMCD, the differences in IL-6 production sources between subtypes remain unclear.

Analysis of Individually Ventilated Cage (IVC) Microenvironments During 21-d Cage Change Frequency for Mice Using Two Different Bedding Types.

The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals provides recommendations on sanitation frequencies for rodent caging equipment; however, it allows for performance standards to be used when extending this frequency for individually ventilated cage (IVC) caging. Our institution wanted to reexamine our current standards of care for mouse IVC caging, which includes a 14-d cage bottom and bedding change as well as the use of corncob bedding. This was driven by desire to reduce the stress to mice associated with cage change, and by recent literature showing a potential improved absorbency and multiple health and welfare benefits of paper pulp cellulose bedding products.

There has been an increasing emphasis on recovery as the expectation for people with mental health conditions. Within acute care mental health settings, music therapists can facilitate recovery by motivating service users to identify self-directed goals that increase their ability to remain in communities of their choice and have lives of hope, meaning, and purpose. The purpose of this cluster-randomized pilot effectiveness study was to determine if a single group songwriting session can impact quantitative measures of recovery in adults on an acute care mental health unit.

This Letter presents an investigation of low-energy electron-neutrino interactions in the Fermilab Booster Neutrino Beam by the MicroBooNE experiment, motivated by the excess of electron-neutrino-like events observed by the MiniBooNE experiment. This is the first measurement to use data from all five years of operation of the MicroBooNE experiment, corresponding to an exposure of 1.11×10^{21} protons on target, a 70% increase on past results.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of teprotumumab for the treatment of thyroid eye disease in geriatric patients.

Methods: This was a multicenter cohort study of patients aged 75 and older, treated between February 2020 and September 2023 across 10 tertiary institutions. Patients were included if they had moderate-to-severe thyroid eye disease and at least 1 infusion of teprotumumab.

Background And Importance: Emergency airway management in the emergency department (ED) is a high-risk procedure associated with patient outcomes. First-attempt success is a widely recognized quality metric, as multiple attempts are associated with an increased risk of peri-intubation complications. In Brazil, where emergency medicine is a recently established specialty, many ED are staffed by physicians without formal emergency medicine training.

Toward Health Equity: A Workshop Report on the State of the Science of Obesity Interventions for Adults.

Objective: From October 18-20, 2022, the National Institutes of Health held a workshop to examine the state of the science concerning obesity interventions in adults to promote health equity. The workshop had three objectives: (1) Convene experts from key institutions and the community to identify gaps in knowledge and opportunities to address obesity, (2) generate recommendations for obesity prevention and treatment to achieve health equity, and (3) identify challenges and needs to address obesity prevalence and disparities, and develop a diverse workforce.

Sworn law enforcement personnel in the United States face high rates of work-related stress. Yet, the well-being of more than 300,000 non-sworn personnel, particularly regarding work-related trauma and stress, remains underexplored. This study aims to test the hypothesis that non-sworn personnel experience lower levels of stress, comparing stress and probable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) between sworn and non-sworn personnel.
