is a parasitic fungus known to induce immune responses. The impact of supplementation on stem cell homing and expansion to human skeletal muscle after exercise remains unexplored. In this study, we examined how pre-exercise supplementation influences cell infiltration, CD34 cell recruitment, and Pax7 cell expansion in human skeletal muscle after high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) on a cycloergometer.

Article Synopsis
  • Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths, and resistance to oxaliplatin, a key chemotherapy drug, leads to tumor recurrence.
  • Researchers developed oxaliplatin-resistant LoVo cell lines and found that miR-29a-3p levels were significantly higher in these resistant cells and in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues.
  • Overexpression of miR-29a-3p causes oxaliplatin resistance by downregulating FEM1B, which leads to higher levels of the oncogene Gli1, resulting in reduced sensitivity to the drug and decreased DNA damage in resistant cells.

Department of Biological Science and Technology, College of Life Sciences, China Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan ROC; Program for Biotechnology Industry, China Medical University, Taichung, Taiwan ROC. Electronic address:

Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a common complication of diabetes, resulting in cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure associated with excessive reactive oxygen species and mitochondria-mediated apoptosis generation. Mitogen-activated protein kinase-c-Jun N-terminal kinase (MAPK-JNK), regulated by microRNA (miR)-210, affects mitochondrial function and is activated by advanced glycation end-products (AGE) in cardiac cells. Diallyl trisulfide (DATS), an antioxidant in garlic oil, inhibits stress-induced cardiac apoptosis.

A patient-friendly and efficient treatment method for patients with spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) was provided through a nose-to-brain liposomal system. Initially, PGK1 was overexpressed in HEK 293-84Q-GFP diseased cells (HEK 293-84Q-GFP-PGK1 cells) to confirm its effect on the diseased protein polyQ. A decrease in polyQ expression was demonstrated in HEK 293-84Q-GFP-PGK1 cells compared to HEK 293-84Q-GFP parental cells.

Aging-associated cardiovascular diseases depend on the longitudinal deterioration of stem cell dynamics. The entire mechanism behind it is not completely understood. However, many studies suggest that endocrine pathways, particularly the insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF1) signaling pathway are involved in cardioprotection, especially in stem-cell treatments.
