Objective: A significant number of patients with gynaecological cancers survive their disease and are considered cured. However, the diagnosis of cancer and its treatment can affect quality of life adversely. We sought to explore the lived experiences of women surviving gynaecological cancers in Oman.

Evaluating Symptom Burden Among Omani Women Newly Diagnosed with Breast Cancer: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignancy affecting women globally, significantly impacting their quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to assess the prevalence and severity of symptoms in newly diagnosed BC patients undergoing chemotherapy in Oman using the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS-A); Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between December 2022 and February 2024 at the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Centre (SQCCCRC), University Medical City, Oman. The study included 105 Omani women, aged 18 to 60, diagnosed with stage I to III BC and undergoing chemotherapy.

The Influence of Emotional Intelligence on Shared Governance Councils Effectiveness Among Nurses Participating in Shared Governance Councils in an Oncology Setting.

Deficits in social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviours are hallmarks of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Despite high genetic heritability, the majority of clinically diagnosed ASD cases have unknown genetic origins. We performed genome sequencing on mothers, fathers, and affected individuals from 104 families with ASD in Oman, a Middle Eastern country underrepresented in international genetic studies.

Genetic counseling as an emerging profession has seen an expansion around the world. In the Sultanate of Oman, the profession has developed with the establishment of clinical and biochemical genetic services in 2010 and genetic counseling services in 2011. Currently, 3 main genetic counseling teams serve the country through qualified genetic counselors who completed internationally recognized MSc program.

There are several promising radiotracers used for both staging and restaging of primary and recurrent brain tumours based on various mechanisms of tracer localization in tumour cells. 68Ga-PSMA PET has extremely low background uptake in normal brain tissue and consequently high tumour-to-brain ratio making it a promising imaging radiotracer for gliomas. 68Ga-PSMA demonstrates utility in evaluating high grade glioma during both initial workup or when suspecting recurrence.

Objectives: We sought to define the prevalence of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations, evaluate the clinicopathologic impact of IDH mutations, assess the effect of IDH mutations on the response to the currently offered treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cases, and determine the impact of other common concurrent mutations with IDH.

Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) from October 2009 to October 2019. We included all Omani patients (pediatric and adult) treated at SQUH with the standard therapy, for whom DNA extraction was performed at diagnosis.

Prevalence and risk factors for atypical femoral fracture among Lebanese patients with hip and shaft fractures.

This retrospective study investigates the prevalence of atypical femoral fractures (AFFs) among patients admitted with hip and shaft fractures at a tertiary referral center in Beirut, Lebanon. We analyzed electronic medical records and radiology studies of patients aged above 40 admitted with hip and shaft fractures between January 2006 and December 2019. Fractures were confirmed by ICD9 or ICD10 codes.

Unusual Soft Tissue Uptake of Tc-99m MDP in Radiation-induced Sarcoma: Diagnostic Conundrum.

Tc-99m methylene diphosphonate (MDP) is a bone imaging agent used for skeletal staging, but it can also be localized in extraosseous calcifying lesions. We report a case of an 84-year-old woman with breast carcinoma who underwent surgery followed by radiotherapy 10 years ago and now presented with a right axillary mass referred for Tc-99m MDP to exclude bone metastasis. Tc-99m MDP shows intense tracer uptake in the right thoracic region corresponding to the site of calcified soft tissue mass in the right lateral chest wall.

Using these models, without validation, for non-Western populations has been questioned. Objectives: This study aimed to report the demographic features, clinical presentation, pathological types and long-term outcomes of patients diagnosed with endometrial cancer (EC) in Oman. The role of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Neurolymphomatosis: A Comprehensive Imaging Approach.

Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is an uncommon and rare neurologic disorder characterised by extranodal lymphoma, where the tumour cells invade the cranial nerves, nerve plexus, nerve root, spinal nerve roots, trunk nerves or peripheral nerves.
