The clinical effectiveness of the available anticancer drugs has been reduced due to the development of drug resistance and serious adverse effects, which have restricted chemotherapy for cancer. Therefore, there is a persistent need for new anticancer medications with reduced side effects. Medical researchers are pursuing various methods to find new, potent, specifically targeted molecules for cancer treatment.

With the rapid progress of urbanization in China, the real estate industry, characterized by a long industrial chain, has become a pillar industry for economic development. Therefore, we inspect the nexus between land finance, housing prices, and economic growth. For this purpose, we use the panel data of 277 cities at the prefecture level or above in China from 2011 to 2019, and empirically examine it by using the Panel Vector Auto Regression (PVAR) model.

Choosing suitable wound dressings is crucial for effective wound healing. Spun scaffolds with bioactive molecule functionalization are gaining attention as a promising approach to expedite tissue repair and regeneration. Here, we present the synthesis of novel multifunctional quercetin with morpholine and pyridine functional motifs (QFM) embedded in silk fibroin (SF)-spun fibers (SF-QFM) for preclinical skin repair therapies.

Observing the vertical diffusion distribution of methane fugitive emissions from oil/gas facilities is significant for predicting the pollutant's spatiotemporal transport and quantifying the random emission sources. A method is proposed for methane's vertical distribution mapping by combining the laser path-integral sensing in non-non-cooperative open paths and the computer-assisted tomography (CAT) techniques. It uses a vertical-plume-mapping optical path configuration and adapts the developed dynamic relaxation and simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique (DR-SART) into methane-emission-distribution reconstruction.

This comprehensive bibliometric study analyzes 1820 journal articles from the Web of Science database to explore Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) leadership in higher education institutions (HEIs). Utilizing co-citation and co-word analysis, the study identifies distinct thematic clusters. The co-citation analysis reveals five key themes: Race, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI), Diversity, Leadership, and Self-Efficacy (DLSE), Gender Dynamics and Leadership Challenges, Women's Representation in Academic Medicine Leadership, and Transformational Leadership in HEIs.

Energy-field-assisted cutting exhibits excellent ability to reduce cutting force and improve machining quality. In this study, a magnetic field was applied in an innovative way to aid in the cutting process, and magnetic-field-assisted scratching experiments of single-crystal copper were carried out. It was found that magnetic-field-assisted scratching increased the actual scratching force due to the additional Lorentz force in the cutting process.

A new structure for PNPN tunnel field-effect transistors (TFETs) has been designed and simulated in this work. The proposed structure incorporates the polarity bias concept and the gate work function engineering to improve the DC and analog/RF figures of merit. The proposed device consists of a control gate (CG) and a polarity gate (PG), where the PG uses a dual-material gate (DMG) structure and is biased at -0.

A miniature Fourier transform spectrometer is proposed using a thin-film lithium niobate electro-optical modulator instead of the conventional modulator made by titanium diffusion in lithium niobate. The modulator was fabricated by a contact lithography process, and its voltage-length and optical waveguide loss were 2.26 V·cm and 1.

In this paper, we propose and investigate an electrically doped (ED) PNPN tunnel field effect transistor (FET), in which the drain side tunneling barrier width is effectively controlled to obtain a suppressed ambipolar current. We present that the proposed PNPN tunnel FETs can be realized without chemically doped junctions by applying the polarity bias concept to a doped N/P starting structure. Using numerical device simulations, we demonstrate how the tunneling barrier width on the drain side can be influenced by several design parameters, such as the gap length between the channel and the drain (L), the working function of the polarity gate, and the dielectric material of the spacer.

Pressure sensors with high sensitivity, a wide linear range, and a quick response time are critical for building an intelligent disease diagnosis system that directly detects and recognizes pulse signals for medical and health applications. However, conventional pressure sensors have limited sensitivity and nonideal response ranges. We proposed a multichannel flexible pulse perception array based on polyimide/multiwalled carbon nanotube-polydimethylsiloxane nanocomposite/polyimide (PI/MPN/PI) sandwich-structure pressure sensor that can be applied for remote disease diagnosis.

A static environment is a prerequisite for the stable operation of most visual SLAM systems, which limits the practical use of most existing systems. The robustness and accuracy of visual SLAM systems in dynamic environments still face many complex challenges. Only relying on semantic information or geometric methods cannot filter out dynamic feature points well.

This study tested whether sitagliptin and shock wave (SW)-assisted circulatory-derived autologous endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) therapy would effectively preserve residual renal function in chronic kidney disease (CKD) induced by 5/6 left-nephrectomy/remove right kidney plus daily feeding high-protein diet (H) in rat. Adult-male SD rats (n = 40) were categorized into group 1 (sham-operated control with H), group 2 (H-CKD), group 3 [H-CKD + EPC (1.2 × 10 cell)/intra-vessel administration by day 14 after CKD-induction], group 4 [H-CKD + SW (0.

Despite left ventricular (LV) dysfunction increases the risk of incidental acute ischemic stroke (AIS), the association between LV function and severity of neurological deficits after AIS remains unclear. Between November 2015 and October 1017, a total of 99 AIS patients were prospectively enrolled and categorized into two groups based on National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). The AIS patients with NIHSS <6 were allocated into Group 1 ( = 50) and those with NIHSS ≥6 were into Group 2 ( = 49).
