Background: Colchicine, an anti-inflammatory agent, has been demonstrated to reduce adverse cardiovascular events in coronary artery disease (CAD) patients. Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitors (SGLT2i) provide cardiovascular prevention beyond glycemic control including anti-inflammatory effect, and reduced heart failure risk. Given their complementary mechanisms, combining colchicine and SGLT2i may offer synergistic benefits in CAD patients with T2DM, yet the incremental effects of this combination remain underexplored.

Objectives: This research aimed to investigate the factors contributing to mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) to identify the primary determinants that exacerbate mortality risks in this population.
Methods: In this cohort study, 297 T2D patients from an urban Spanish population were monitored over 49 months to assess survival. The study collected sociodemographic and clinical data, including cardiovascular risk factors and initial treatments, to examine their impact on patient survival.

Background: The impact of diabetes mellitus (DM) on outcomes of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TC) remains unclear, with conflicting evidence suggesting either protective or harmful effects. This study evaluates the association between DM and in-hospital outcomes in TC patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of the National Inpatient Sample database (2016-2019) was conducted to compare in-hospital outcomes in TC patients with and without DM.

Objective: To assess the relative predictors of mortality risk in a contemporary cohort of patients referred for stress single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging in whom all relevant risk factors and cardiac-related comorbidities were evaluated at the time of cardiac stress testing.
Methods: We evaluated 15,662 patients undergoing stress single-photon emission computed tomography myocardial perfusion imaging between 2008 and 2017. Patients were observed for a median of 6.

BackgroundOver the past two decades, there has been an increase in the prevalence of psychological conditions, such as depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and body image disturbances. In concert with this trend, there was a substantial rise in the advocacy and practice of restrictive dietary patterns, such as veganism and vegetarianism. These parallel developments suggest a relation between diet and mental health, but to date, research has failed to offer clear answers on whether these associations are causal, coincidental, or more complex than superficial analyses suggest.

For adults with advanced heart failure, class II/III obesity (body mass index ≥35 kg/m) represents major challenges, and it is even considered a contraindication for heart transplantation (HT) at many centers. This has led to growing interest in preventing and treating obesity to help patients with advanced heart failure become HT candidates. Among all weight-loss strategies, bariatric surgery (BSx) has the greatest weight loss efficacy and has shown value in enabling select patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and obesity to lose sufficient weight to access HT.

Background: Hypertension and physical inactivity are risk factors for stroke. The effect of cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) on stroke risk in patients with hypertension has not been assessed. We evaluated stroke incidence in patients with hypertension according to CRF and changes in CRF.

Even with substantial progress in primary and secondary prevention, cardiovascular disease (CVD) persists as a major cause of mortality and morbidity globally. Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (Ω-3 PUFAs) have gained considerable attention for their ability to improve CV health and prognosis. Metanalyses of randomized controlled trials have demonstrated Ω-3 PUFAs' positive impact on CVD outcomes for both primary and secondary prevention endpoints.

A large body of scientific research accumulated over the past twenty years documents the cardiovascular (CV) benefits of estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P4) in reproductive aged women. In contrast, accelerated development of CV disease (CVD) occurs in the absence of ovarian produced E2 and P4. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with E2 and P4 has been shown to cause no harm to younger menopausal women.

Obesity is a major public health challenge worldwide. It is costly, predisposes to many cardiovascular (CV) diseases (CVD), is increasing at an alarming rate, and disproportionately affects people of low-socioeconomic status. It has a myriad of deleterious effects on the body, particularly on the CV system.
