In this study, determination of the inorganic and organic forms of tin in waters of different salinities is considered. The possibility of the separation of speciations of tin using liquid-liquid extraction (LLE); precipitation with fluorides, iodides, ammonia, and iron (III) chloride; and sorption of organotin compounds (OTCs) was studied. The LLE and analyte precipitation methods proved to be ineffective.

Tubular bones are layered waveguide structures composed of soft tissue, cortical and porous bone tissue, and bone marrow. Ultrasound diagnostics of such biocomposites are based on the guided wave excitation and registration by piezoelectric transducers applied to the waveguide surface. Meanwhile, the upper sublayers shield the diseased interior, creating difficulties in extracting information about its weakening from the surface signals.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, mostly due to diagnostics in the advanced stage. Therefore, the development of a quick, simple, and non-invasive diagnostic tool to identify cancer is essential. However, the creation of a reliable diagnostic tool is possible only in case of selectivity to other diseases, particularly, cancer of other localizations.

This paper considers the features of determining the total tin content in waters with different salinity. Direct ICP-spectrometric analysis of sea waters with a salinity of more than 6‱ significantly reduced the analytical signal of tin by 70% (ICP-MS) and 30% (ICP-OES). The matrix effect of macrocomponents was eliminated by generating hydrides using 0.

The influence of a single H/H replacement on the frequency generation of different-size bubbles in the human interferon alpha-17 gene (IFNA17) under various energies was studied by a developed algorithm and mathematical modeling without simplifications or averaging. This new approach showed the efficacy of researching DNA bubbles and open states both when all hydrogen bonds in nitrogenous base pairs are protium and after an H-substitution. After a single deuterium substitution under specific energies, it was demonstrated that the non-coding region of IFNA17 had a more significant regulatory role in bubble generation in the whole gene than the promoter had.

Thin Pd-40%Cu films were obtained via the classical melting and rolling method, magnetron sputtering, and modified with nanostructured functional coatings to intensify the process of hydrogen transportation. The films were modified by electrodeposition, according to the classical method of obtaining palladium black and "Pd-Au nanoflowers" with spherical and pentagonal particles, respectively. The experiment results demonstrated the highest catalytic activity (89.

Phosphate recovery from different second streams using electrodialysis (ED) is a promising step to a nutrients circular economy. However, the relatively low ED performance hinders the widespread adoption of this environmentally sound method. The formation of "bonded species" between phosphates and the weakly basic fixed groups (primary and secondary amines) of the anion exchange membrane can be the cause of decrease in current efficiency and increase in energy consumption.

The possibility of establishing the varietal and territorial affiliation of wines by the content of rare earth elements (REE) in them was studied. ICP-OES and ICP-MS with subsequent chemometric processing of the results were applied to determine the elemental image of soils containing negligible REE amounts, grapes grown on these soils, and wine materials of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Moldova varieties produced from these grapes. To stabilize and clarify wine materials, the traditional processing of wine materials with various types of bentonite clays (BT) was used, which turned out to be a source of REE in the wine material.

Anodes based on substoichiometric titanium oxide (TiO) are among the most effective for the anodic oxidation of organic pollutants in aqueous solutions. Such electrodes can be made in the form of semipermeable porous structures called reactive electrochemical membranes (REMs). Recent work has shown that REMs with large pore sizes (0.

New processes for recycling valuable materials from used lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) need to be developed. This is critical to both meeting growing global demand and mitigating the electronic waste crisis. In contrast to the use of reagent-based processes, this work shows the results of testing a hybrid electrobaromembrane (EBM) method for the selective separation of Li and Co ions.

A non-steady state mathematical model of an amino acid (phenylalanine (Phe)) and mineral salt (NaCl) solution separation by neutralization dialysis (ND) carried out in a batch mode is proposed. The model takes into account the characteristics of membranes (thickness, ion-exchange capacity, and conductivity) and solutions (concentration, composition). As compared to previously developed models, the new one considers the local equilibrium of Phe protolysis reactions in solutions and membranes and the transport of all the phenylalanine forms (zwitterionic, positively and negatively charged) through membranes.

The paper presents theoretical and experimental investigations of the behavior of an electrolyte solution with three types of ions near an ion-selective microparticle with electrokinetically and pressure-driven flow. A special experimental cell has been developed for the investigations. An anion-selective spherical particle composed of ion-exchange resin is fixed in the center of the cell.

The entrance of even a small amount of phosphorus compounds into natural waters leads to global problems that require the use of modern purification technologies. This paper presents the results of testing a hybrid electrobaromembrane (EBM) method for the selective separation of Cl (always present in phosphorus-containing waters) and HPO anions. Separated ions of the same charge sign move in an electric field through the pores of a nanoporous membrane to the corresponding electrode, while a commensurate counter-convective flow in the pores is created by a pressure drop across the membrane.

The crystal structure and the biological activity of a new coordination compound of magnesium ions with comenic acid, magnesium comenate, was characterized and studied. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of the compound was investigated in detail using elemental X-ray fluorescent analysis, thermal analysis, IR-Fourier spectrometry, UV spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Based on experimental analytical data, the empirical formula of magnesium comenate [Mg(HCom)(HO)]·2HO was established.

In electromembrane systems, the transfer of ions near ion-exchange membranes causes concentration polarization, which significantly complicates mass transfer. Spacers are used to reduce the effect of concentration polarization and increase mass transfer. In this article, for the first time, a theoretical study is carried out, using a two-dimensional mathematical model, of the effect of spacers on the mass transfer process in the desalination channel formed by anion-exchange and cation-exchange membranes under conditions when they cause a developed Karman vortex street.

The purpose of this work was to prepare new isatin- and monothiomalondiamide-based indole derivatives, as well as to study the properties of the new compounds. The four-component reaction of 5-R-isatins (R = H, CH), malononitrile, monothiomalonamide (3-amino-3-thioxo- propanamide) and triethylamine in hot EtOH yields a mixture of isomeric triethylammonium 6'-amino-3'-(aminocarbonyl)-5'-cyano-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-1'- and 6'-amino-3'-(aminocarbonyl)- 5'-cyano-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-3'-spiro[indole-3,4'-pyridine]-2'-thiolates. The reactivity and structure of the products was studied.

Dopamine, adrenaline and octopamine are small polar molecules that play a vital role in regulatory systems. In this paper, phthalylglycyl chloride was proposed as a derivatization agent for octopamine, adrenaline and dopamine determination in urine for the first time. The derivatization procedure facilitated the use of reversed-phase liquid chromatography with positive electrospray ionization-high-resolution mass spectrometry.

Cohesive and adhesive bindings degrade during operation and maintenance even if contacting materials in a manufactured laminated structure are perfectly matched at the interfaces. Two modelling approaches for describing partially closed delaminations or imperfect contact zones, which often occurs at the interfaces, are examined and considered. To confirm the adequateness of the applicability of the effective spring boundary conditions for guided wave scattering by a finite length delamination, guided wave propagation through a damaged zone with a distribution of micro-cracks is compared with an equivalent cohesive zone model, where the spring stiffnesses for the effective boundary conditions are calculated using the properties of the considered crack distribution.
