This was a comparative study of the heavy metal levels (Zn, Pb, Cd, Co, Mn, Fe, Cr and Cu) in eggs from free grazing duck, small-scale, and large-scale farms in central and western regions of Thailand. A questionnaire was used to gather demographic data for the analysis of heavy metal contamination in feed, drinking water and wastewater. The correlation between the amounts of heavy metal contamination in eggs was studied against the heavy metals found in feed, drinking water and wastewater.

Two hundred duck egg samples were collected from 20 farms in Central and Western Thailand. The levels of Zn, Co, Mn, Fe, and Cr in yolks were found significantly higher than in albumen, whereas the levels of Cd and Cu contaminations in egg albumen were significantly higher than in yolks. The mean level of Pb contamination in whole eggs was 4.

The barn owl (BO) and the collared scops owl (CSO) are common nocturnal raptors throughout Thailand. Blood samples from 23 adult BOs and 14 CSOs were collected and processed for complete blood cell counts and parasite morphological examinations. Two -positive samples were processed for ultrastructural observation.

The gene conferring a "pandan-like" aroma of winter melon was identified. The sequence variation (804-bp deletion) found in the gene was used as the target for functional marker development. Winter melon (Benincasa hispida), a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, is a commonly consumed vegetable in Asian countries that is popular for its nutritional and medicinal value.

The purposes of this study were to find the optimum level of supplementing CO for increasing the biomass and hydrocarbon production of B. braunii KMITL 2 (A race) and to determine the effects of CO level on CO fixation and biodiesel properties. The experimental results showed that the alga supplemented with 10% CO produced the highest biomass (1.

The role of gender in the progression of fatty liver due to chronic high-fat high-fructose diet (HFFD) has not been studied. The present investigation assessed whether HFFD induced hepatic perturbations differently between the sexes and examined the potential mechanisms. Male, female, and ovariectomized (OVX) Sprague-Dawley rats were fed either a control diet or HFFD for 12 wk.

Background: The match play patterns in equestrian polo are unique and require specific training programs to ensure sport performance. The effect of commonly used exercise training regimens on the adaptation of skeletal muscle is unclear. The present study investigated the modulating effects of the classic training regimen, comprised of aerobic exercise training with increasing exercise intensities and varying duration combined with match play, on the properties of muscle in polo ponies.

Thailand's aromatic coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is a special type of green dwarf coconut, the liquid endosperm of which is characterized by a pleasant "pandan-like" aroma due to the presence of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP). The aim of this study was to perform a de novo assembly of transriptome from C.

Ternary Cd1-xInxTe semiconductor nanoparticles have been demonstrated to be sensitizers for solar cell devices. The chemical bath deposition (CBD) process was used to synthesize Cd1-xInxTe nanoparticles, which were deposited onto a mesoporous TiO2 photoelectrode. Individual nanoparticles were estimated to have an average diameter range of ∼10nm.

We report a new tailoring MnTe semiconductor-sensitized solar cells (MnTe SSCs) using successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) technique. X-ray diffraction and SAED patterns reveal the orthorhombic MnTe and cubic MnTe2 phases were grown on boron-doped TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles. The diameter of MnTe NPs ranged from 15 to 30nm on both B-doped metal oxide structures.

Ethanol tolerance is one of the important characteristics of ethanol-producing yeast. This study focused on the improvement of ethanol tolerance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae NR1 for enhancing ethanol production by random UV-C mutagenesis. One ethanol-tolerant mutant, UVNR56, displayed a significantly improved ethanol tolerance in the presence of 15% (v/v) ethanol and showed a considerably higher viability during ethanol fermentation from sugarcane molasses and sugarcane molasses with initial ethanol supplementation.

2-Acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP), the volatile compound that provides the 'popcorn-like' aroma in a large variety of cereal and food products, is widely found in nature. Deficiency in amino aldehyde dehydrogenase (AMADH) was previously shown to be the likely cause of 2AP biosynthesis in rice (Oryza sativa L.).
