Spondylocostal dysostosis (SCDO) is a group of rare genetic disorders characterized by segmental vertebral defects and rib deformities due to congenital misalignment, fusion, or reduction in the number of ribs. The causes of the disease have been found in seven genes, including (SCDO1, OMIM 602768), (SCDO2, OMIM 608681), (SCDO3, OMIM 609813), (SCDO4, OMIM 608059), (SCDO5, OMIM 602427), (SCDO6, OMIM 616566), and (SCDO7). Among these, SCDO4, characterized by a short trunk, short neck, and mild nonprogressive scoliosis, is a rare form of reported cases.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) exhibit great promise for treatment applications because of their immunosuppressive properties. The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR), which is a transcription factor that is activated via ligand, has a pivotal role in regulating the immune system and is involved in a range of immune-related disorders. However, hyperglycemia, the defining biochemical hallmark of diabetes, creates a chronically pro-inflammatory microenvironment that impairs the immunoregulatory effects of MSCs.

Utilizing office waste paper for environmental treatments has garnered significant interest from the research community, as it addresses both waste management and the development of low-cost sustainable adsorbents. In this study, a novel approach was developed by integrating office waste paper-derived fibrillated cellulose (PFC) with magnetic graphene oxide (M-GO) to develop a composite adsorbent for the removal of tetracycline (TC) from aqueous solutions. PFC was isolated an alkali-acid treatment process; graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized using a modified Hummers' method and subsequently functionalized with magnetite nanoparticles to produce M-GO.

Po (polonium) has high radiotoxicity that tends to accumulate in marine bivalves inhabiting coastal zones with elevated background levels of primordial radionuclides. In this study, the Po concentration in two organs of the Asian green mussel (Perna viridis), collected from the coastal region of Binh Thuan, Vietnam, was determined using alpha spectrometry. The results showed a significant difference in Po activity concentration between the two organs of P.

East Asian is the only representative monotypic Monosoleniaceae and has been found for the first time in North Indochina in five provinces of Vietnam. All paleotropical localities, including those previously known in Indonesia, are situated not in the high mountains, as one might expect for the East Asian species occurring southward in East Asia, but in the lower altitude zones (i.e.

The rapid mutation rate of SARS-CoV-2 highlights the urgent need for continuous drug development to enhance both efficacy and safety. BPR2-D2, an angular coumarin derivative, has previously shown notable anti-influenza activity and broad-spectrum inhibitory effects against RNA viruses. In this study, we found that BPR2-D2 exhibits potent antiviral activity against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants, including several variants of concern, at nanomolar concentrations.

In this study, graphene oxide-carbon nanotube-magnetite (GO/CNT/FeO) nanocomposites were synthesized a co-precipitation method for wastewater treatment. The obtained results indicated that FeO nanoparticles exhibited a spherical-shaped morphology, with an average diameter of around 20 nm, and decorated the surface of GO and CNTs. The adsorption data fitted well with the Langmuir isothermal model, exhibiting a coefficient of > 0.

Information about the occurrence of phthalic acid esters (PAEs) in water environments in Vietnam and Southeast Asia is still limited. In this study, we analyzed ten PAEs in surface water samples collected from five estuaries in Thanh Hoa Province, central Vietnam, to elucidate pollution levels and patterns, seasonal variations, potential sources, and mass loads of these typical pollutants in tropical estuarine regions. Concentrations of total PAEs ranged from 663 to 4782 ng/L, with higher levels found in the dry season (median 2747; range 1267-4782 ng/L) than in the rainy season (1493; 663-3512 ng/L).

In this study, ZnO nanoplates (crystallite size: 100 nm, thickness: 15 nm) were synthesized a hydrothermal route. Varistors were then fabricated using these ZnO nanoplates incorporated with five oxide dopants (BiO, SbO, MnO, CoO, and CrO) and sintered at 1000, 1100, and 1200 °C. A control varistor sample using micro-sized ZnO was also prepared.

Sericin (SS) serves as a natural adhesive, binding silk fibers within the silkworm cocoon and shielding them from environmental stresses. Commonly, SS-based films rely on additives to improve their physical properties. In this study, we developed an additive-free film composed of SS and chitosan (CS) in an ethanol environment, achieving enhanced tensile strength, elongation at break, and water retention and release capacity through structural modification of SS.

Computed tomography (CT) imaging is a widely used diagnostic tool, but conventional iodine-based contrast agents suffer from limitations such as short circulation time and potential nephrotoxicity. In this study, we present a simple one-pot thermal decomposition method for synthesizing ultrasmall Bi/BiO nanoparticles (NPs) using a commercial Bi(NO) precursor and a surfactant mixture of oleic acid and oleylamine. Oleylamine acts as a reducing agent, facilitating the conversion of Bi to metallic Bi, while the BiO oxide layer is controlled by adjusting the oleic acid-to-oleylamine ratio.

A humidity-resistant, antibacterial triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) was developed using polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride (PHMG) as the primary functional material. To enhance performance stability, PHMG was integrated with natural chitosan (CS) to create a positively charged triboelectric electrode. When combined with a negatively charged fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) membrane, the TENG demonstrated outstanding electrical output, achieving a maximum peak-to-peak voltage ( ) of 1470.

Population-specific reference genomes are essential for improving the accuracy and reliability of genomic analyses across diverse human populations. Although Vietnam ranks as the 16th most populous country in the world, with more than 86% of its population identifying as Kinh, studies specifically focusing on the Kinh Vietnamese reference genome remain scarce. Therefore, constructing a Kinh Vietnamese reference genome is valuable in the genetic research of Vietnamese.

Aluminum hydroxide nanoplates (nATH), with an average particle size of about 350-450 nm and a thickness of 30 nm, were successfully synthesized through a hydrothermal process using an Al(OH) gel precursor. The ATH nanoplates were then surface-treated with organic compounds and incorporated into an intumescent flame-retardant epoxy system containing polyethyleneimine-modified ammonium polyphosphate (APP@PEI). Among them, the combination of APP@PEI and PEI-treated nATH (nATH) exhibited the highest synergistic effect on the fire resistance and thermal stability of epoxy resin due to the superior dispersion of the nanoplates.
