Background: Incarcerated individuals have a disproportionate burden of cardiovascular risk factors. However, there is a paucity of data focusing on cardiovascular death and access to adequate health care among incarcerated individuals.
Methods: We used the Mortality in Correctional Institutions database from the US Bureau of Justice Statistics to examine cardiovascular deaths in all state prisons from 2001 to 2019, health care provision, as well as differences in these measures between racial and ethnic groups.
Introduction: Clinicopathological correlations differ by sex in Lewy body dementia (LBD). However, previous studies have focused on pathological staging systems that place less emphasis on regional pathologies.
Methods: We included 357 people (131 female, 226 male) with a high likelihood of LBD based on pathology from the Brain Bank for Neurodegenerative (Jacksonville, FL).

Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal disease caused by variants in the gene. Although Fabry disease is X-linked, gene variants in females can exhibit a wide range of symptoms, challenging the traditional view of Fabry as an X-linked recessive disease. A family is presented here with a 36-year-old female who is symptomatic with chronic kidney disease and her oligosymptomatic 70-year-old father, both of whom have a heterozygous and hemizygous GLA pathogenic variant, respectively, c.

Many inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) are associated with end-organ damage necessitating organ transplantation. Although utilization of deceased donors with history of IMD warrants caution, there may be circumstances under which such donors could be considered as suitable organ donor candidates. We present the first known report of liver transplantation from a deceased donor with cystinosis.

Objective: To report and describe the adverse events related to the use of Artic Front cryoballoon catheters (Arctic Front, Arctic Front Advance, and Arctic Front Advance Pro) reported in the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Manufacturers and User Defined Experience (MAUDE) database.
Methods: We reviewed all the adverse events reported to the FDA MAUDE database over a 10.
We present a 67-year-old woman who developed progressive pancytopenia over 10 months, concomitant with administration of severe adult respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), pneumococcal and influenza vaccines. She developed mild leukopenia ∼2 weeks after the SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine sequence, with progressive symptoms after subsequent vaccines, eventually developing severe aplastic anaemia (SAA). While there have been several reports of vaccine-related SAA, at time of submission, our case is the first reported to develop after the Moderna mRNA SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, as well as the first to document the gradual development of SAA over the course of many vaccine exposures.

Combined heart-liver transplantation (CHLT) is indicated for patients with concomitant end-stage heart and liver disease or patients with amyloid heart disease where liver transplantation mitigates progression. Limited data suggest that the liver allograft provides immunoprotection for heart and kidney allografts in combined transplantation from the same donor. We hypothesized that CHLT reduces the incidence of acute cellular rejection (ACR) and the development of de novo donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) compared with heart-alone transplantation (HA).
