Optical adiabatons are specific shape-invariant pulse pairs propagating at the reduced group velocity and without optical absorption in the medium. The purpose of this study is to analyze the possibility of adiabaton formation in multilevel atomic systems with the focus on M-type and double tripod (DT) systems having five energy levels and different interaction configurations. Findings show that the M-type atomic system is prone to intensity dependent group velocity and pulse front steepening which prevents the formation of long range optical adiabatons.

Previously, miR-1, miR-122, miR-126, miR-132, miR-133, and miR-370 were found to be related to coronary artery disease (CAD) progression. However, their relationship with subclinical atherosclerosis, especially in subjects with metabolic syndrome, is unknown. Therefore, our aim was to determine their relationship with arterial markers of subclinical atherosclerosis.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are of increasing concern for society and national governments, as well as globally due to their high mortality rate. The main risk factors of NCDs can be classified into the categories of self-management, genetic factors, environmental factors, factors of medical conditions, and socio-demographic factors. The main focus is on the elements of self-management and to reach a consensus about the influence of food on risk management and actions toward the prevention of NCDs at all stages of life.

We present a model for digital neural impairment screening and self-assessment, which can evaluate cognitive and motor deficits for patients with symptoms of central nervous system (CNS) disorders, such as mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), or dementia. The data was collected with an Android mobile application that can track cognitive, hand tremor, energy expenditure, and speech features of subjects. We extracted 238 features as the model inputs using 16 tasks, 12 of them were based on a self-administered cognitive testing (SAGE) methodology and others used finger tapping and voice features acquired from the sensors of a smart mobile device (smartphone or tablet).

Problem: The current tumor immunology paradigm emphasizes the role of the immune tumor microenvironment and distinguishes several histologically and transcriptionally different immune tumor subtypes. However, the experimental validation of such classification is so far limited to selected cancer types. Here, we aimed to explore the existence of inflamed, excluded, and desert immune subtypes in ovarian cancer, as well as investigate their association with the disease outcome.
