A series of boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes were nitrated in high yields using nitronium tetrafluoroborate at positions 2, 3, and 2,6 of the BODIPY core. This method allows for the regioselective nitration of the pyrrolic positions under milder conditions than previously reported methods. The photophysical properties and electronic transitions of these BODIPYs were investigated by using UV-vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and density-functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Background: Cerebral palsy (CP) clinical research is fraught with challenges, in part due to health-related disparities common among people with disabilities. Perspectives of people with lived experience of CP, clinicians and researchers vary on how to address these disparities. The present initiative explores synergies and discrepancies among stakeholders (n = 212) representing these partner groups in perceived barriers and facilitators to high-quality clinical CP research and robust trainee pathways.

This review aims to examine microbial mechanisms for phosphorus (P) solubilization, assess the impacts of P mining and scarcity, and advocate for sustainable recycling strategies to enhance agricultural and environmental resilience. Phosphorus is an indispensable macronutrient for plant growth and agricultural productivity, yet its bioavailability in cultivation systems is often constrained. This scarcity has led to a heavy reliance on fertilizers derived from mined phosphate rock (PR), which is a finite resource usually contaminated with hazardous elements such as uranium, radium, and thorium.

Microbial contamination of water sources is a pressing global challenge, disproportionately affecting developing regions with inadequate infrastructure and limited access to safe drinking water. In the Global South, waterborne pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and helminths contribute to diseases like cholera, dysentery, and typhoid fever, resulting in severe public health burdens. Predictive modeling emerges as a pivotal tool in addressing these challenges, offering data-driven insights to anticipate contamination events and optimize mitigation strategies.

Introduction: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) continue to pose a significant public health challenge worldwide, with over 1 million new cases reported daily. STI's are known to negatively impact sexual and reproductive health, increases risk of HIV transmission and acquisitions, as well as impacting mental health, personal wellbeing, and relationships. Information on the trend of STIs using nationally representative data in Tanzania is lacking.

Objective: Growing evidence has suggested clinical efficacy for the use of anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (atDCS) when combined with motor interventions in patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI). However, no studies have compared multiple approaches for improving motor function with atDCS in patients with CAI. We therefore aimed to determine the efficacy of atDCS over the motor or frontal cortex when combined with a four-week motor planning intervention on neural function, performance, and patient-reported outcomes in patients with CAI.

Objective: This study evaluated the association between maternal care deserts (MCDs)-defined by accessibility measures such as travel time and distance to obstetric and gynecological care-and maternal and infant health outcomes in North Carolina from 2016 to 2021.
Methods: This was a retrospective secondary data analysis examining residents of North Carolina from 2016 to 2021, using travel metrics from residential zip codes to the nearest clinical providers. Maternal and infant health outcomes were assessed using data from the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and inpatient hospitalization records for North Carolina.

The North Carolina FarmsSHARE program distributes healthy, locally sourced food to low-income households across nearly 100 counties in the state through the Department of Agriculture's Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement. In this article, we present insights from a cross-sectional survey of stakeholders who were involved in implementing the program. We explore measures of satisfaction, perceived value, economic impact, quality of food, and community relationships within each stakeholder group (farmers, food hubs, and community-based organizations).

Objectives: Interpersonal problems are a fundamental feature of depression, but study-level meta-analyses of their association with treatment outcome have been limited by heterogeneity in primary studies' analyses and reported results. We conducted a pre-registered individual participant data meta-analysis (IPD-MA) to examine this relationship for adult depression. This meta-analytic strategy can reduce variability by standardizing data analysis across primary studies.

Fenethylline (street name, captagon) is a synthetic amphetamine-type stimulant that is emerging as a significant public health and security concern, particularly in the Middle East. This systematic review synthesizes original research articles, epidemiological studies, systematic reviews, policy analyses, and case reports to provide a comprehensive analysis of fenethylline's health impacts, addiction potential, and dynamics of illicit trade. Initially developed for therapeutic use, fenethylline illicit production and use have escalated, raising concern about its physiological, psychological, and socio-economic impacts.

Honey, a natural product with a rich history of medicinal use, has gained increasing recognition for its potent antimicrobial properties, particularly against antibiotic-resistant pathogens. This review focuses on the antimicrobial mechanisms of honey, including its efficacy against resistant bacteria, such as Methicillin-resistant and . The antimicrobial action of honey is multifactorial, involving hydrogen peroxide production, phenolic compounds, high sugar concentrations, and the presence of bee defensin-1.

Yet, no studies have attempted to integrate these constructs into current ADHD conceptualizations within the context of one another. The current study thus sought to determine whether personality traits and ED dimensions, together, could facilitate meaningful differentiation of college students meeting symptom and impairment criteria for ADHD.

We aimed to assess the psychoeducational quality of TikTok content about attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) from the perspective of both mental health professionals and young adults across two pre-registered studies. In Study 1, two clinical psychologists with expertise in ADHD evaluated the claims (accuracy, nuance, overall quality as psychoeducation material) made in the top 100 #ADHD TikTok videos. Despite the videos' immense popularity (collectively amassing nearly half a billion views), fewer than 50% of the claims about ADHD symptoms were judged to align with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

Damage to the axons of the adult mammalian central nervous system (CNS) from traumatic injury or neurodegenerative diseases often results in permanent loss of function due to failure of axons to regenerate. Zebrafish, however, can express regeneration-associated genes to revert CNS neurons to a growth-competent state and regenerate damaged axons to functionality. An established model for CNS axon regeneration is optic nerve injury in zebrafish, where it was previously shown that thousands of genes are temporally expressed during the regeneration time course.

The implementation of the frozen-core option in combination with the analytic gradient of the random-phase approximation (RPA) is reported based on a density functional theory reference determinant using resolution-of-the-identity techniques and an extended Lagrangian. The frozen-core option reduces the dimensionality of the matrices required for the RPA analytic gradient, thereby yielding a reduction in computational cost. A frozen core also reduces the size of the numerical frequency grid required for accurate treatment of the correlation contributions using Curtis-Clenshaw quadratures, leading to an additional speedup.

Nuclear enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1), a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), is a critical player in the pathogenesis and progression of ovarian cancer. Its abnormal expression in patients' follicular fluid (FF), granulosa cells, and oocytes has been linked to key processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, nuclear maturation, and follicle development. NEAT1's regulation of oocyte maturation and its influence on tumor dynamics and cellular communication within the FF is well-established.
