Article Abstract

Background: Hypofractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (fSRT) is increasingly used for brain metastases (BMs) from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, relevant data concerning treatment outcomes of fSRT and clinical utility of re-irradiation using fSRT (re-fSRT) remain scarce.

Methods: Consecutive NSCLC patients with fSRT-treated BMs from May 2018 to May 2022 were included. The cumulative incidence of intracranial local recurrence (iLR), intracranial progressive disease (iPD) and symptomatic radiation necrosis (sRN) were calculated from the initiation of fSRT, choosing death as the competing event. Patients with limited iPD (number ≤5 and size ≤3 cm) and without iLR developed within 12 months, were classified as re-fSRT candidates. The clinical value of re-fSRT and dosimetric predictors of sRN were investigated.

Results: With a median follow-up of 22.3 months, the 1-year, 2-year and 3-year cumulative incidence of iLR among the 218 identified patients were 8.1 %, 12.3 %, 17.8 %, respectively. Biological effective dose, total tumor volume and concurrent systemic therapy were associated with the risk of iLR. Notably, 45 (76.3 %) of the 59 patients with iPD were feasible for re-fSRT. Re-fSRT was performed in 19 (42.2 %) of the 45 candidates and associated with improved survival ( = 0.010). The 1-year, 2-year and 3-year cumulative incidence of sRN in the whole population were 4.5 %, 10.3 %, 17.7 %, respectively. Moreover, sRN occurred in 3 (15.8 %) patients receiving re-fSRT and Brain V20Gy was found to be associated with the risk of sRN.

Conclusion: fSRT is a promising treatment for limited BMs from NSCLC and some patients may benefit from re-fSRT.

Objectives: Participation rates in fecal immunochemical test (FIT)-based colorectal cancer (CRC) screening differ across socio-demographic subgroups. The largest health gains could be achieved in subgroups with low participation rates and high risk of CRC. We investigated the CRC risk within different socio-demographic subgroups with low participation in the Dutch CRC screening program.

The Citrus Under Protective Screen is a novel production system implemented to grow citrus free of huanglongbing disease vectored by Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri. Other significant pests such as mites, scales, thrips, mealybugs, and leafminers, as well as parasitoids and small predators, have been identified from Citrus Under Protective Screen and require management. Background: The expression and clinical correlation of BRAFV600E mutation and programmed cell death-1 ligand 1 (PD-L1) in children with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) have been reported, but the conclusions of previous studies are inconsistent. In addition, it has been reported that elevated cathepsin S (CTSS) expression is associated with various cancers. However, there is currently no research on the correlation between CTSS and LCH.

Purpose: Breast cancer remains a significant public health challenge globally, as well as in India, where it is the most frequently diagnosed cancer in females. Significant disparities in incidence, mortality, and access to health care across India's sociodemographically diverse population highlight the need for increased awareness, policy reform, and research.

Design: This review consolidates data from national cancer registries, global cancer databases, and institutional findings from a tertiary care center to examine the epidemiology, clinical challenges, and management gaps specific to India.

Background And Objectives: Myelitis is a relatively common clinical entity for neurologists, with diverse underlying causes. The aim of this study was to describe the incidence of myelitis, its causes, clinical presentation, and factors predicting functional outcomes and relapses.

Methods: Using the Swedish National Patient Registry, we identified all adult patients in Stockholm County between 2008 and 2018 using International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition (ICD-10) codes likely to include myelitis.
