The ethical complexities of technological advancement are growing as fields such as climate adaptation, microbiology, healthcare, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI) evolve rapidly. While these technologies offer innovative solutions to global challenges, they raise significant ethical concerns. In climate adaptation, AI-driven models and remote sensing technologies prompt questions about data privacy, environmental justice, and equitable access, especially for vulnerable populations. Similarly, advancements in microbiology and healthcare, such as genetic research and digital health tools, present ethical dilemmas related to informed consent, data security, and the exploitation of marginalized communities. In robotics and AI, ethical concerns are heightened due to their potential to automate decision-making, affect employment, and infringe on personal freedoms. The influence of AI in healthcare, law enforcement, and public services highlights the urgent need for ethical oversight to prevent bias and protect human rights. The EU AI Act addresses these challenges by categorizing AI systems by risk and setting stringent guidelines for high-risk applications, especially in sensitive sectors like healthcare. This article emphasizes the importance of balancing innovation with ethical responsibility, advocating for comprehensive regulatory frameworks, interdisciplinary collaboration, and global cooperation to ensure that technological advancements align with ethical standards and societal values.

Salt stress impairs photosynthetic efficiency and consequently reduces the growth, development, and grain yield of crop plants. The formation of hydrophobic barriers in the root endodermis, including the suberin lamellae and Casparian strips, is a key adaptive strategy for salt stress tolerance. In this study, we identified the role of the rice NAC transcription factor, ONAC005, in salt stress tolerance.

Understanding the genetic mechanism of cold adaptation in cashmere goats and dairy goats is very important to improve their production performance. The purpose of this study was to comprehensively analyze the genetic basis of goat adaptation to cold environments, clarify the impact of environmental factors on genome diversity, and lay the foundation for breeding goat breeds to adapt to climate change. A total of 240 dairy goats were subjected to genome resequencing, and the whole genome sequencing data of 57 individuals from 6 published breeds were incorporated.

Freezing point depression due to high salt concentration is crucial for liquid water to exist on cold worlds, expanding special regions where habitats are plausible. Determination of the growth tolerances of terrestrial microbes in analog systems impacts planetary protection protocols aimed at preventing interference with life detection missions or potential native ecosystems on celestial bodies. We measured the salinity tolerances of 18 salinotolerant bacteria (Bacillus, Halomonas, Marinococcus, Nesterenkonia, Planococcus, Salibacillus, and Terribacillus).

This review traces the evolution of psychiatry in Egypt and the broader Arab region from 1994 to 2024, offering a comprehensive analysis of reforms in mental health policy, clinical infrastructure, education, legislation and workforce development. This paper examines key challenges, including service fragmentation, sociocultural stigma, refugee mental health and underinvestment. It highlights current contradictions in the field, such as increased demand, limited access and the dominance of imported psychiatric models with insufficient cultural adaptation.
