Water-ion interactions govern the physicochemical properties of aqueous solutions, impacting the structure of the hydrogen bonding network and ion diffusivities. To elucidate these effects under alkaline conditions relevant to diverse application spaces, we examined NaOD-DO solutions using two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy (2D-IR), small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). Vibrational energy transfer between the donor anion SeCN, used as a 2D-IR probe, and the acceptor anion OD was used to track the average separation distance of ions in the DO solutions, while SAXS and NMR experiments measured the structure of the bulk DO solvent. We observed consistent nonlinear scaling in the SeCN and OD average separation distance as a function of NaOD concentration, while bulk solution DO-to-DO average separation distance remained linear. The findings suggest that the SeCN and OD anions participate in a water-ion network that significantly reduces the degrees of freedom for the distribution of ions in solution relative to the stochastic ion distributions typical of the dilute limit.

Objective: The incidence of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) in the United States continues to climb as an aging yet active population increases demand for the procedure. Due to promising clinical results out of Europe, improvement in prosthesis design, and wider acceptance of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA), this study was designed to evaluate how rTSA and anatomical TSA (aTSA) utilization, patient selection, and length of stay have changed at a single institution.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients from one hospital system between 2017 and 2023.

Background: In contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM) and contrast-enhanced digital breast tomosynthesis (CEDBT), low-energy (LE) and high-energy (HE) images are acquired after injection of iodine contrast agent. Weighted subtraction is then applied to generate dual-energy (DE) images, where normal breast tissues are suppressed, leaving iodinated objects enhanced. Currently, clinical systems employ a dual-shot (DS) method, where LE and HE images are acquired with two separate exposures.

Hypoxia has been extensively studied as a stressor which pushes human bodily systems to responses and adaptations. Nevertheless, a few evidence exist onto constituent trains of motor unit action potential, despite recent advancements which allow to decompose surface electromyographic signals. This study aimed to investigate motor unit properties from noninvasive approaches during maximal isometric exercise in normobaric hypoxia.

The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a key measure of renal function, typically estimated using creatinine-based equations. More precise clearance measurements are obtained with radiotracers, such as [Tc]Tc-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), and blood samples over several hours. However, standard plasma clearance methods require labor-intensive plasma preparation, limiting efficiency in clinical practice.

The Union Cycliste Internationale recognizes several mountain biking (MTB) disciplines, including downhill, enduro, cross-country short track, cross-country Olympic, cross-country marathon, and multiday stage racing. Cyclocross is recognized as a separate cycling discipline. Both MTB and cyclocross include cycling on off-road surfaces of varying technicality on specialized bicycles purposed for the respective disciplines.
