Article Abstract

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have experienced rapid growth in recent years as treatments for type 2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. These medications offer promising benefits, including weight loss and improved glycemic control; however, their implications for reproductive health warrant attention. While tirzepatide has been shown to impact absorption of oral contraceptives due to delayed gastric emptying, other GLP-1RAs do not appear to have clinically significant interactions with oral contraception. Fertility outcomes may improve with GLP-1RAs and dual GLP-1/GIP agonists due to weight loss and related metabolic benefits. Despite their widespread use, data on GLP-1RAs in pregnancy and lactation remain limited, leaving significant gaps in guidance for clinicians. This review synthesizes current literature on GLP-1RAs to highlight reproductive health considerations, including their potential impacts on contraception, fertility, pregnancy, and lactation. Greater awareness and understanding of these factors can support informed decision-making and optimize care for individuals using GLP-1RAs.

Objective: To systematically evaluate the association between anthropometric parameter and myopia in children and adolescents.

Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO, Embase, CNKI, CBM, WanFang Data, and VIP databases were searched from inception to June, 2025. We collected cross-sectional studies on the association between anthropometric parameter and myopia in children and adolescents aged 0-25 years, including body mass index (BMI) and weight-adjusted waist index (WWI).

Epigenetic processes, such as DNA methylation, show potential as biological markers and mechanisms underlying gene-environment interplay in the prediction of mental health and other brain-based phenotypes. However, little is known about how peripheral epigenetic patterns relate to individual differences in the brain itself. An increasingly popular approach to address this is by combining epigenetic and neuroimaging data; yet, research in this area is almost entirely comprised of cross-sectional studies in adults.

Improving access to care and delivery to marginalized and vulnerable populations: a committee opinion.

Fertil Steril

September 2025

American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Washington, D.C.

It has been estimated that only a quarter of persons with infertility in the United States can sufficiently access infertility care. Against this backdrop of disparity, specific populations, including persons of color, sexual and gender minorities, immigrants, and lower-income persons, face barriers that further constrain access to care. This document outlines these communities' barriers and reviews best practice recommendations to extend inclusive access to care for marginalized populations.

Transcriptomic analysis of the mechanism of male reproductive injuries caused by the mixture of three phthalates in rats.

Toxicol Appl Pharmacol

Department of Environmental Hygiene and Toxicology, School of Public Health, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou 325035, China. Electronic address:

Phthalates (PEs) are widespread in environment, and human beings are unavoidably exposing to the mixture of PEs, which may induce male reproductive health risks. In order to investigate the mechanism of male reproductive injuries caused by the mixture of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate, dibutyl phthalate and butyl benzyl phthalate (MPEs), male rats were orally exposed to 16 mg/kg/d MPEs (L-MPEs) and 450 mg/kg/d MPEs (H-MPEs) for 90 days, and the results showed that MPEs decreased the weights of testes, epididymis and periepididymis fat, decreased serum levels of male hormones, increased abnormal sperm rate, and caused testicular histopathological damages, such as atrophy and cavitation of seminiferous tubules, spermatids exfoliation, Leydig cells hyperplasia and accumulation of lipid droplets in the testicular interstitium. Testicular transcriptomic analysis identified 100 differently expressed genes (DEGs) in L-MPEs group and 10,880 DEGs in H-MPEs group, and these DEGs mainly involved in signaling pathways of focal adhesion, PI3K-Akt, AGE-RAGE, axon guidance, PPAR, MAPK and etc.

Challenges in the Diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Clin Med (Lond)

September 2025

Leeds Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine, University of Leeds, Chapel Allerton Hospital, Leeds, UK; NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds, UK. Electronic address:

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a life-long, complex, multi-system, autoimmune condition which can occur at any age, most commonly in female adults in their reproductive years. Diagnosis is often delayed with reported time from symptom onset to diagnosis as long as 6 years. Delayed diagnosis can result in irreversible organ damage, acute hospital admission, poor health-related outcomes and increased risk of mortality.
