Background: Sodium homeostasis is crucial for physiological balance, yet the neurobiological mechanisms underlying sodium appetite remain incompletely understood. The nucleus tractus solitarii (NTS) integrates visceral signals to regulate feeding behaviors, including sodium intake. This study investigated the role of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (HSD2)-expressing neurons in the NTS in mediating sodium appetite under low-sodium diet (LSD) conditions and elucidated the molecular pathways involved, particularly the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascade.

Introduction: Biofeedback is a non-pharmacological treatment option valued for its minimal risk of adverse events and offers a safe alternative for individuals seeking preventive care for migraine. Despite level A evidence for migraine prevention, biofeedback treatment is still unavailable to most patients. We developed a novel medical device (Cerebri) for multimodal biofeedback treatment that omits the need for healthcare personnel involvement.

Neuropeptides play crucial roles in regulating context-dependent behaviors, but the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. We investigate the role of the neuropeptide SIFa and its receptor SIFaR in regulating two distinct mating duration behaviors in male Drosophila: Longer-Mating-Duration (LMD) and Shorter-Mating-Duration (SMD). We found that SIFaR expression in specific neurons is required for both LMD and SMD behaviors.

Introduction: The locus coeruleus (LC) is a compact nucleus of noradrenergic neurons in the brainstem. Despite its relatively small size, the LC has widespread axonal connections and serves as the primary source of noradrenaline (NA) throughout the central nervous system. The LC-NA system plays a critical role in regulating cognitive and physiological processes, and its dysfunction has been implicated in various neurological and psychiatric disorders.
