This study investigates the barriers and facilitators to emergency contraception (EC) use among university students and assesses interest in vending machines that sell EC on university campuses. 363 students at a private Illinois university completed an electronic survey regarding on-campus EC access (73.6% cisgender women, 52.9% white, 45.7% straight, 58.7% undergraduate). Anonymous survey responses were collected between November 2023 and February 2024 RedCap and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Nearly half of all participants (42.1%) had previously obtained EC, either for themselves or from someone else. Among these participants ( = 153), 18.3% found the experience difficult, mainly due to cost. Over half (55.0%) of participants had confidentiality concerns when obtaining EC. Most (90.3%) participants reported that they would use an on-campus EC vending machine. Understanding the specific barriers university students face when seeking EC can inform efforts to improve access, including through EC vending machines.

Objectives: To explore the relationships between cardiac parameters and body composition indices, identifying predictors of subclinical cardiac systolic dysfunction.
Methods: Using anthropometric and serological parameters, echocardiography, and body composition analysis, this study evaluated metabolic profiles, cardiac remodeling patterns, and body composition characteristics in young adult obese patients, while quantifying the correlations between cardiac parameters and body composition indices. Subclinical left ventricular systolic dysfunction was defined as global longitudinal strain (GLS) < 18%.

John is a 12-year-old African-American boy with a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading and Generalized Anxiety Disorder who you are seeing in follow-up at your clinic. Last fall, when John was having an escalation of his anxiety symptoms at school, he enacted the behavior intervention plan (BIP) that had been previously established by his educational team of informing his teacher that he needed to leave the classroom. He then paced the hallway outside of his classroom as a method of coping with the anxiety that he was experiencing.
