Microswimmer locomotion in non-Newtonian fluids is crucial for biological processes, including infection, fertilization and biofilm formation. The behaviour of microswimmers in these media is an area with many conflicting results, with swimmers displaying varying responses depending on their morphology, actuation and the complex properties of the surrounding fluid. Using a hybrid computational approach, we numerically investigate the effect of shear-thinning rheology and viscoelasticity on a simple conceptual microswimmer consisting of three linked spheres.

Background: Echocardiographic reference intervals for Quarter Horses are infrequently reported.

Objectives: To provide standard echocardiographic measurements for sedentary Quarter Horses and evaluate the relationship between physical characteristics (body weight, age, sex) and echocardiographic measurements.

Animals: Forty-one sedentary Quarter Horses, free of cardiac disease, from a university research herd.

Giant Graviton Correlators as Defect Systems.

Phys Rev Lett

We consider correlation functions of two maximal giant gravitons and two light 1/2-BPS (Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield) operators in 4D N=4 SYM (super Yang-Mills). Viewed as two-point correlators in the presence of a zero-dimensional defect, they can be completely fixed at strong coupling using analytic bootstrap techniques. We determine all infinitely such correlators for arbitrary light 1/2-BPS operators and find that the result can be repackaged into a simple generating function thanks to a hidden higher-dimensional symmetry.

Quantum low-density parity-check (QLDPC) codes offer a promising path to low-overhead fault-tolerant quantum computation but lack systematic strategies for exploration. In this Letter, we establish a topological framework for studying the bivariate-bicycle codes, a prominent class of QLDPC codes tailored for real-world quantum hardware. Our framework enables the investigation of these codes through universal properties of topological orders.
