Article Abstract

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction rates are rising, particularly among female athletes, though causes remain unclear. This study: (i) identify accurate machine learning models to predict ACL length, strain, and force during six high-impact and daily activities; (ii) assess the significance of kinematic and constitutional parameters; and (iii) analyse gender-based injury risk patterns. Using 9,375 observations per variable, 42 models were trained. Cubist, Generalized Boosted Models (GBM), and Random Forest (RF) achieved the best , RMSE, and MAE. Knee flexion and external rotation strongly predicted ACL strain and force. Female athletes showed higher rotation during cuts, elevating ACL strain and risk.

The posterior tibial slope, used to define the angulation of the tibial plateau relative to the tibial shaft, is an important radiographic measurement that has gained significant interest recently. Increasing biomechanical and clinical literature has demonstrated the importance of evaluating posterior tibial slope due to its impact on knee kinematics. Although risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and graft rupture is multifactorial, studies have demonstrated that increased posterior tibial slope is likely a contributing factor.

Introduction Predicting hamstring graft size before anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is crucial to avoid subsequent graft failure. Our study aims to (1) develop a generalized algorithm to predict final ACL graft diameter for single and double tendon hamstring grafts consisting of any number of folds, (2) evaluate our algorithm with a regression model adjusting for patient and surgical factors, and (3) assess algorithm's specificity, sensitivity, and discriminative ability, defining adequate graft size as ≥9mm. Materials/Methods We conducted a retrospective review of 105 patients who underwent primary ACL reconstruction with with either single- (semitendinosus or gracilis only) or double-tendon (both semitendinosus and gracilis) hamstring grafts from January 2023 to June 2024 at a tertiary institution.

State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding, Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing 100193, PR China. Electronic address:

Egg is one of the most accessible sources of animal protein, and indigenous chicken breeds have gained increasing attention in recent years due to consumers' growing demand for diversified egg products. Genetic improvement of these breeds has become critical for enhancing the economic sustainability. This study aimed to characterize individual laying patterns and estimate genetic parameters for egg production, oviposition intervals, and other clutch-related traits in indigenous Beijing-You chickens, providing effective indicators for within breed selection.

Background: Porcine tendons are frequently used as surrogates for human semitendinosus tendons in biomechanical studies, yet their comparability remains unexplored.

Methods: This study evaluates and compares the morphological and biomechanical properties of different porcine tendons (foreleg-extensors (n = 10), foreleg-flexors (n = 10), hindleg-extensors (n = 10) and hindleg-flexors (n = 10)) with those of human semitendinosus tendons (n = 13). Tendon length and cross-sectional area were measured, and maximum load, tensile strength, stiffness, and elastic modulus were determined using uniaxial testing.
