There is growing evidence regarding non-pharmacological therapies such as music as a supportive approach for the treatment of various clinical conditions in humans. Physiological and neurobiological research suggests that music exposure is related to endorphin, endocannabinoid and dopamine release, favourable effects on autonomic nervous system functioning and is associated with decreased pain perception and reduced stress response. Further evidence in humans demonstrates a beneficial role of music application during the perioperative period by improving various outcome measures, such as the perioperative stress and anxiety levels, the sedation or general anaesthetic requirements, the pain levels, the analgesic requirements and other parameters related to patient prognosis, without reported side effects. Accordingly, such interventions have been considered as a method of environmental enrichment for animal welfare enhancement, by masking potentially disturbing background noises and by ameliorating anxiety or aggressive behaviours in different stressful settings in dogs and cats. Furthermore, research has been lately extended to the potential music's effect in these species during the perioperative period, considered a stressful setting, as well. This review presents the existing evidence of music application focusing on the perioperative period of dogs and cats, as part of a multimodal approach, to improve their surgical outcome and welfare.

Purpose: In 5-10% of cases, renal cancer extends into the venous system, particularly the inferior vena cava (IVC), which worsens prognosis. This study aims to assess morbidity, mortality, and oncological outcomes of patients treated surgically for renal cancer with IVC extension over a 30-year period, in two experienced centers.
Materials And Methods: This bicentric, retrospective study analyzed patients treated between 1988 and 2020 for renal cancer involving the IVC.

Despite the widespread use of clinical anesthesia, the process of emergence from general anesthesia remains primarily driven by anesthetic elimination. Although emergence from general anesthesia is typically safe, prolonged delays strain resource-intensive settings and contribute to increased healthcare costs. In addition to improving access to care, providing clinicians with more precise control over emergence could offer diagnostic potential and improve patient outcomes.

Purpose: To compare postoperative vault measurements between horizontal and vertical fixation of the Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) (KS-AquaPORT; STAAR Surgical) when its size is determined using the KS formula.
Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 2,343 eyes from 1,275 patients who underwent myopic ICL implantation. Pre-operative anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) (CASIA 2; Tomey Corporation) was performed in both horizontal and vertical orientations.

Introduction Patients have identified knee stiffness as a factor contributing to postoperative dissatisfaction after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Losartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that has demonstrated antifibrotic effects; however, the impact of perioperative losartan on arthrofibrosis after TKA is not well understood. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine if losartan exhibits antifibrotic benefits in patients who undergo TKA by decreasing the rates of manipulation under anesthesia (MUA), when compared to patients who are not taking losartan.

Several complications have been reported following copolyamide filler injections for breast augmentation leading many countries to issue warnings regarding the use of nonabsorbable fillers. While previous reports have described breast complications necessitating surgical intervention after filler injections, none have explicitly documented the continuation of postoperative breastfeeding. Here, we report a rare case in which a woman with a history of breast augmentation using AQUALIFT developed mastitis following childbirth and the initiation of breastfeeding.
