Article Abstract

Context: Accurate working length determination is essential for successful root canal therapy. This study compares the accuracy of two electronic apex locators-e-Magic Finder (EMF)-100 and WOODPEX I-with digital radiovisiography (RVG; Suni Ray) in determining root canal working length.

Aims: To evaluate and compare the accuracy of EMF-100 and WOODPEX I apex locators with RVG in determining the working length of root canals.

Settings And Design: This was an , comparative observational study conducted in a clinical dental setting. The study included 30 patients (aged ≥15 years) requiring endodontic therapy on 45 mature permanent teeth. The aim was to evaluate and compare the accuracy of two electronic apex locators-EMF-100 and WOODPEX I-with digital radiovisiography (Suni Ray) in determining working length.

Subjects And Methods: A total of 45 teeth from 30 patients (aged ≥15 years) requiring endodontic treatment were included. After obtaining consent and recording medical history, preoperative RVG images were taken using the paralleling technique. Working length was measured using three methods: EMF-100 apex locator (Group I), WOODPEX I (Group II), and RVG (Group III).

Statistical Analysis Used: Paired -test and Chi-square test.

Results: Both apex locators demonstrated clinically acceptable accuracy. EMF-100 showed slightly better agreement with RVG than WOODPEX I.

Conclusion: Both EMF-100 and WOODPEX I are effective for working length determination, with EMF-100 exhibiting slightly higher accuracy.

Reversible Manipulations of Triangular-Shaped Mirror Twin Boundary Loops in Ultrathin NiTe.

Nano Lett

September 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Peking University, Beijing 100871, People's Republic of China.

High-density mirror twin boundaries (MTBs) embedded in two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have emerged as fascinating platforms for exploring charge density wave and Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid-related issues. However, the reversible manipulation of high-density MTBs in 2D TMDCs remains challenging. Herein, we report the first fabrication of high-density MTB loops in ultrathin 1T-NiTe on the SrTiO(001) substrate, by postannealing as-grown 1T-NiTe under Te-deficient conditions.

Background: Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) is characterized by marked episodic memory decline. The hippocampus is essential for episodic memory, and integration of information within its subregions is central to this process. This study examined how alterations in hippocampal subregional network relate to episodic memory impairment in aMCI.

Mercury (Hg) contamination in marine species is a critical environmental and public health issue, particularly for commercially important resources like mantis shrimp, Squilla mantis. This study assessed Hg levels in muscle and gonadal tissues of 64 female S. mantis from the Adriatic Sea, assessed into pre-spawning, spawning, and post-spawning reproductive stages.

Polyploidy, a conserved mechanism involved in normal development and tissue homeostasis, plays a paradoxical role in cancer by facilitating both tumor progression and therapeutic vulnerability. Although polyploidization may confer survival advantages to cancer cells, its controlled induction could represent an effective anticancer strategy. Aurora B kinase, a critical regulator of mitosis, plays a pivotal role in ensuring chromosomal integrity and preventing polyploidy.

Although antimicrobial peptides possess potent antimicrobial activities, the high cost of production, based on amino acid length, has limited their therapeutic and cosmeceutical applications. This study aimed to produce and characterize de novo designed antimicrobial peptides derived from WSKK11 and WSRR11 for efficacy against acne-causing bacteria. Ten designed peptides were evaluated for antimicrobial, hemolytic, and cytotoxic activities, as well as, secondary structures by FTIR and modes of action.
