Spinal cord injury (SCI) repair represents an immense challenge globally. Despite various beneficial strategies having been attempted for SCI repair, the ideal therapy has not yet been achieved. In this study, a multidimensional biomimetic spinal cord-like scaffold (MBSLS) is designed with a hierarchical structure and embryonic neurogenetic microenvironment and neural regeneration in SCI repair. MBSLS successfully regulated the neural differentiation of loaded neural stem cells (NSCs) and regenerated spinal cord-like tissue in vitro by promoting neurogenesis, gliogenesis, axonogenesis, axon ensheathment, synapse organization, and calcium homeostasis. Moreover, the NSC-loaded scaffold achieves exceptional SCI repair through highly efficient axonal regeneration and neural circuit reconstruction, which significantly improves the recovery of motor function, sensory function, and autonomic function in vivo. Importantly, the MBSLS scaffold achieves seamless integration with the host spinal cord in only 5 min, allowing early cell infiltration and repair. Finally, the feasibility of the minimally invasive implantation of human-sized MBSLS in a pig SCI model is confirmed, demonstrating its potential and prospects for clinical translation to treat SCI.

Bacterial burn wound infections can disrupt the natural wound-healing process, leading to life-threatening diseases. This study aimed to investigate the use of glycerosomes as a novel system for the topical delivery of cefoperazone to promote its burn wound healing action. Cefoperazone-loaded glycerosomes (CEFO-GLY) were optimized using a 2 full-factorial design and prepared via the thin film hydration method.

Background: Intestinal fibrosis is a severe and progressive complication of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease (CD), for which no effective anti-fibrotic therapies currently exist.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the anti-fibrotic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of Prim-O-glucosylcimifugin (POG), a natural chromone derivative, in TGF-β1-stimulated human intestinal fibroblasts.
Methods: Fibrosis was modeled in human intestinal fibroblast cell lines (CCD-18Co) and human primary intestinal myofibroblasts (HIMF) using TGF-β1.

The integration of information memory and computing enabled by nonvolatile memristive device has been widely acknowledged as a critical solution to circumvent the von Neumann architecture limitations. Herein, the Au/NiO/CaBiTiO/FTO (CBTi/NiO) heterojunction based memristor with varying film thicknesses are demonstrated on FTO/glass substrates, and the CBTi/NiO-4 sample shows the optimal memristor characteristics with 5 × 10 stable switching cycles and 10-s resistance state retention. The electrical conduction in the low-resistance state is dominated by Ohmic behavior, while the high-resistance state exhibited characteristics consistent with the space-charge-limited conduction (SCLC) model.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a devastating condition characterized by the accumulation of myelin debris (MD), persistent neuroinflammation, and impaired neural regeneration. Although macrophages are pivotal for MD clearance, the impact of excessive MD phagocytosis on macrophage phenotype and function remains poorly understood. Building upon our prior evidence that exendin-4 (Ex-4), a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist, mitigates microglia-driven neuroinflammation post-SCI, this study elucidates the therapeutic efficacy and underlying mechanisms of Ex-4 in alleviating macrophage senescence, restoring efferocytotic capacity, and facilitating neural repair.

Laying hens possess a calcium-specific appetite that intensifies towards lights out to meet the high demands for eggshell formation and skeletal maintenance. Pecking blocks (PBs) are edible enrichments that can serve as an additional calcium source. We explored the relationships between PB preference (PBp), PB use, keel fracture status (KS), and eggshell quality.
