Article Abstract

Ship object detection and fine-grained recognition of remote sensing images are hot topics in remote sensing image processing, with applications in fishing vessel operation command, merchant ship navigation route planning, and other fields. In order to improve the detection accuracy for different types of remote sensing ship objects, this paper proposes a ship object perception and feature refinement method based on the improved ReDet, called Mamba-ReDet (M-ReDet). First, this paper designs a ship object fine-grained feature extraction backbone (Mamba-ReResNet, M-ReResNet), which selects and reconstructs the unique features of different types of ship objects through the Mamba's selective memory to improve the algorithm's ability to extract fine-grained features. Secondly, the M-ReDet consists of the Ship Object Perception Module (SOPM) and the Ship Feature Refinement Module (SFRM), which can extract the ship's spatial position information from the feature map, fuse different scales of spatial position information and use this information to refine the fine-grained features to improve the detection accuracy of the algorithm for different categories of ships. Finally, we use the KFIoU and Focal Loss as the regression loss and classification loss of the algorithm to improve the accuracy of the training. The experimental results show that the mAP0.5 of the M-ReDet algorithm on the FAIR1M(ship) and DOTAv1.0 visible light (RGB) remote sensing image datasets are 43.29% and 82.09%, respectively, which is 2.78% and 3.34% higher than that of the ReDet.

Pollination is essential for maintaining biodiversity and ensuring food security, and in Europe it is primarily mediated by four insect orders (Coleoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera). However, traditional monitoring methods are costly and time consuming. Although recent automation efforts have focused on butterflies and bees, flies, a diverse and ecologically important group of pollinators, have received comparatively little attention, likely due to the challenges posed by their subtle morphological differences.

Shocked quartz grains are an accepted indicator of crater-forming cosmic impact events, which also typically produce amorphous silica along the fractures. Furthermore, previous research has shown that shocked quartz can form when nuclear detonations, asteroids, and comets produce near-surface or "touch-down" airbursts. When cosmic airbursts detonate with enough energy and at sufficiently low altitude, the resultant relatively small, high-velocity fragments may strike Earth's surface with high enough pressures to generate thermal and mechanical shock that can fracture quartz grains and introduce molten silica into the fractures.

Small glaciers situated in high mountainous areas are experiencing notable declines, characterized by unprecedented rates of ice loss in recent years. This study investigates the recent changes in surface elevation and mass loss occurring between 2010 and 2023 within the Alamkouh Glacier over three subperiods, one of the biggest glaciers in Iran and the Middle East. These assessments are derived from a combination of high-resolution LiDAR data in 2010 (with a spatial resolution of 20 cm) and multi-temporal surveys conducted using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in 2018, 2020, and 2023 (with spatial resolutions varied from 10 to 20 cm).

Quantum imaging with spatially entangled photons offers advantages such as enhanced spatial resolution, robustness against noise, and counterintuitive phenomena, while a biphoton spatial aberration generally degrades its performance. Biphoton aberration correction has been achieved by using classical beams to detect the aberration source or scanning the correction phase on biphotons if the source is unreachable. Here, a new method named position-correlated biphoton Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensing is introduced, where the phase pattern added on photon pairs with a strong position correlation is reconstructed from their position centroid distribution at the back focal plane of a microlens array.
