We report on the use of a daratumumab-CHOP regimen for treatment of gamma heavy chain disease (γHCD) in a 79-year-old woman. γHCD is a very rare hematological disease, often associated with an underlying lymphoproliferative disorder. Only a few cases are reported in the literature, and, therefore, strong evidence is lacking regarding new therapeutic strategies. We attempted a treatment with a monoclonal anti-CD38 antibody in association with conventional chemothorapy, due to CD38 expression by clonal cells. This is the first reported case in the literature, in a disease in which very few novel strategies have recently emerged.

Aims: Many patients develop Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD) after undergoing the Fontan procedure-a surgical treatment for congenital heart disease such as single ventricle-owing to changes in venous pressure and cardiac output. Liver biopsy is the gold standard for diagnosing FALD, but has limitations. Magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) is a popular non-invasive method for evaluating liver stiffness and fibrosis in FALD; however, no unified view exists.

A novel palladium-catalyzed asymmetric aminomethylative pyridonation of conjugated dienes with -acetals and 2-hydroxypyridines was established, which provided a direct and reliable method for the synthesis of a wide range of γ-aminated N-substituted 2-pyridones with good to excellent enantioselectivities. The simple BF was identified as an effective cocatalyst to improve the reaction efficiency, and DFT calculations revealed that proton transfer between the aminomethylated allylic palladium species and 2-hydroxypyridine promoted by BF is crucial for obtaining good reactivity.

Objective: To measure and compare CSF cytokine concentrations among horses with equine neuroaxonal dystrophy (eNAD)/equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy (EDM), horses with cervical vertebral stenotic myelopathy (CVSM), and control horses and to evaluate for associations with clinical parameters.
Methods: Banked equine CSF samples from horses with neurologic disease that underwent a complete neurologic examination and postmortem diagnosis confirmation of CVSM or eNAD/EDM or from control horses were included. Cytokines were measured with an equine-specific cytokine/chemokine magnetic bead multiplex panel (23-cytokine multiplex).

Cadmium chloride (CdCl₂) is a powerful environmental toxin that has been documented to induce severe hepatic and renal damage through oxidative stress mechanisms. This study evaluated the protective impact of combined low dose of gamma irradiation (LDR) and trans-resveratrol (Trans-Res) on CdCl₂-induced hepato-renal toxicity in rats. Five groups of 50 male albino rats had been classified as; control, CdCl₂ (2 mg/kg), CdCl₂+LDR (0.

The use of treated wastewater (TWW) for crop irrigation has increased worldwide as an alternative to preserving freshwater resources. However, choosing this alternative still requires more data about its impact on the environment, crop quality, and human health. In this regard, the present study aimed to assess the irrigation impact with TWW for a long time (35 years) on soil properties and on cereal and bean yield.
