Introduction: Superomedial pedicle breast reduction combined with a Wise pattern or vertical skin resection has become more popular recently. This review aims to investigate the role of the type of skin resection that may alter the outcomes of superomedial breast reduction surgeries.
Methods: We reviewed MEDLINE and Embase databases for articles investigating superomedial pedicle breast reduction outcomes. Studies were identified and analyzed using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The main search terms were synonyms of "breast reduction" and "complications". Outcomes and complications were analyzed using SPSS statistical software. BMI, excised tissue mass, and patient age on operation were matched to decrease bias. Complications included areolar necrosis, infection, wound dehiscence, hypertrophic scarring, altered sensation, seroma, hematoma, fat necrosis, dog ear deformities, and delayed healing.
Results: 332 papers underwent abstract screening, and 90 underwent full-text screening. 42 studies were extracted to yield 9,525 breasts in 4,848 patients. The mean age was 41.9 ± 5.33 years. The mean BMI was 28.7 ± 3.06. The mean mass of excised breast tissue on one side was 787.3 ± 352.43 grams. The crude incidence of complications with the vertical approach was significantly higher than with the Wise pattern closure (15.12% vs 12.21%, p<0.001). The difference increased following adjusting the confounders to (17.97% vs 12.79%, p<0.001). The subgroup analysis between the two adjusted groups showed a significantly higher incidence of partial and total nipple necrosis, infection, wound dehiscence, widened and hypertrophic scars, seroma, hematoma, fat necrosis, dog ear deformity, and the number of revisions in vertical approach (p<0.05). On the other hand, it showed a significantly higher incidence of altered sensation in the Wise pattern approach (p<0.001). Delayed wound healing rate was insignificantly different between the two groups (p = 0.666).
Discussion: Vertical skin closure is associated with more significant complications than Wise pattern techniques. However, it is associated with a lower rate of altered sensation. Both patients and surgeons should choose the preferable approach based on the patient's goals, keeping an eye on the anticipated complications aligned with each technique.

This study aimed to evaluate mortality due to female breast cancer attributable to overweight and obesity and to estimate the number of preventable deaths with a reduction in the Body Mass Index in Brazil. An ecological study was carried out with investigation of information on overweight, obesity, sociodemographic characteristics based on a national survey carried out in 2013-14; breast cancer mortality rate in 2019 using the Online Atlas of Mortality and Relative Risk Meta-Analyses. The Potential Impact Fraction analysis was carried out, considering the following counterfactual scenarios related to the reduction in BMI: Scenario A - population contingent of women that make up the prevalence of overweight and obesity now composes the prevalence of eutrophy; Scenario B - population contingent of women that make up the prevalence of overweight starts to make up the prevalence of eutrophy; Scenario C - population contingent of women that make up the prevalence of obesity becomes part of the prevalence of overweight.

Purpose: Advanced, pre-treated TNBC has a dismal prognosis and lacks effective options beyond standard cytotoxics. We previously showed, via phosphoproteomic screening, that CDK6 and ERK hyperactivation are linked to adverse outcomes and represent actionable targets. This prompted us to evaluate palbociclib and binimetinib in advanced TNBC after one or two prior therapies.

The involvement of Choline Dehydrogenase (CHDH) in metabolic disorders and tumour progression has garnered significant scholarly interest. However, the specific role of CHDH in the metastasis and progression of breast cancer (BC) has been less thoroughly investigated. Our research indicates that CHDH protein expression is markedly elevated in breast cancer tissues compared to normal tissues, and this expression is positively correlated with the tumour node metastasis (TNM) stage of breast cancer.

Background: Breast cancer is a systemic disease, yet the impact of tumor molecular subtype and disease stage on the systemic immune landscape remains poorly understood. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the systemic immune landscape in a large cohort of breast cancer patients, encompassing all molecular subtypes and disease stages, alongside a control group of healthy donors.
Materials And Methods: Using multi-parameter flow cytometry, we assessed the abundance, phenotype, and activation status of diverse innate and adaptive immune cell populations across peripheral blood samples from 355 breast cancer patients and 65 healthy donors.

Contralateral breast (CB) cancer is the most common subsequent cancer among breast cancer survivors, and radiotherapy has been linked to CB cancer risk. The purpose of this work was to evaluate doses to subregions of the contralateral breast from historical breast cancer treatments carried out in the United States between 1990 and 2012. We extracted treatment data from radiation therapy summaries for 2,442 radiotherapy patients during that period.
