(Hübner) is an important polyphagous agricultural pest that poses a serious threat to global agricultural production. We characterized the pheromone biosynthesis-activating neuropeptide receptor (PBANR) in and elucidated its critical role in sex pheromone biosynthesis and reproduction. Bioinformatic analysis and functional assays confirmed that PBANR is a rhodopsin-like G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). Expression of peaked in female adults and was essential for regulating intracellular calcium homeostasis and sex pheromone production. RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated silencing of significantly reduced the levels of key sex pheromones (Z9,E12-14:Ac and Z9-14:Ac), suppressed mating frequency, and decreased egg production. These findings demonstrate that -targeting dsRNA may serve as a potential RNAi-based biopesticide to disrupt pheromone-mediated reproduction in .

Mosquito-borne diseases pose significant public health challenges, necessitating the development of effective and sustainable vector control strategies. This study investigated the feeding preferences of 4 mosquito species (Aedes aegypti Linnaeus, Aedes albopictus Skuse, Culex quinquefasciatus Say, and Anopheles quadrimaculatus Say) for various fruit juices using a home-made choice chamber. We also assessed the impact of combining biogents lure and boric acid into attractive toxic sugar baits to enhance mosquito attraction and mortality.

This coevolution implies that sensory preferences are themselves variable traits, yet the neural basis of such variation remains unclear. In our previous study, we generated a membrane-type progesterone receptor γ (paqr5b) knockout zebrafish line. Knocking out paqr5b by genome editing resulted in the loss of neurons in the olfactory rosette (OR). These findings indicated that Paqr5b plays an essential role in the formation of olfactory neurons.

The pre-courtship behavior of on trees was recorded for the first time, documenting a putative female "calling" behavior and the consequent male "oriented search," enabling the description of behavioral units, sequences, frequencies, and degrees of stereotypy. Post-resting activity in both sexes began with walking and grooming during the first hour of the scotophase, following a period of daytime inactivity. Subsequently, females extended their ovipositor both horizontally and vertically, alternating between contact with the tree substrate and, simultaneously, walking the surface (=putative calling behavior), while males became active, extending their antennae perpendicularly to the longitudinal body axis.
