Maladaptive role of peridroplet mitochondria during lipophagy disruption in pancreatic cancer.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

September 2025

Laboratory of Biopharmaceutics, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chiba University, 1-8-1 Inohana, Chuo-ku, Chiba-city, Chiba, 260-8675, Japan. Electronic address:

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) cells exhibit high metabolic flexibility, enabling survival under glucose limitation by using alternative fuels such as fatty acids. Lipophagy, a selective form of autophagy targeting lipid droplets (LDs), supports mitochondrial respiration during such nutrient stress. Our previous study demonstrated that the LSD1 inhibitor SP-2509 disrupts lipophagy independently of LSD1 inhibition, leading to LD accumulation and ATP depletion in glycolysis-suppressed PDAC cells.

September 2025

Departamento de Genética del Desarrollo y Fisiología Molecular, Instituto de Biotecnología, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico.

Background: As of September 2024, Mexico had reported over 7.6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 334,785 deaths. Genomic surveillance has been essential, with 94,799 SARS-CoV-2 genomes sequenced nationwide, 38.

Metalloenzymes activate molecular oxygen within their catalytic cycles to generate a reactive species capable of substrate transformation. In many iron-containing enzymes, it is a high-valent iron(IV)-oxo complex that is synthesized from an iron(III)-alkylperoxo intermediate, although direct observation and characterization of such species have remained elusive, leaving their mechanistic role uncertain. To address this gap in our understanding, we present here the synthesis, comprehensive characterization, and reactivity of a novel thioether-ligated iron(III)-alkylperoxo complex supported by the ligand 2-((2-(pyridin-2-yl)ethyl)thio)-N,N-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)ethan-1-amine.

This study delves into the time-varying causal relationship between housing prices (HP) and entrepreneurial vitality (EV) in China, employing a rolling-window sub-sample testing approach. The findings reveal that HP exerts both positive and negative influences on EV across different sub-samples. Specifically, when wealth effects dominate, HP positively impacts EV, acting as a promoter.
