The ensemble average of the transfer function of an optical system that corrects wavefront tilt in real time is termed the average short-exposure modulation transfer function (SEMTF). Most of the previous studies regarding this topic neglect the influences of type of tilt. The difference between Zernike tilt (Z-tilt) and gradient tilt (G-tilt) is introduced in SEMTF. Fried-type analytical but less accurate forms that assume tilt is uncorrelated with residual phase and numerical but accurate double-integral forms that discard the above assumption have been derived. The double-integral forms can achieve both high accuracy and rapid computation speed without neglecting the location dependency of the tilt-corrected phase structure function. For the sake of generality, telescope aperture is set to be annular, and circular formulae can be obtained by setting the obstruction ratio to be zero.

Notably, the electron-donating ability of ligands significantly enhances the ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) processes within these frameworks, thereby promoting efficient charge migration. Conventional acid-catalyzed acetalization faces significant challenges in catalyst recovery and poses environmental concerns. Herein, we develop a CeO-supported Pd single-atom catalyst (Pd/CeO) that eliminates the reliance on liquid acids by creating a localized H-rich microenvironment through heterolytic H activation. X-ray absorption near-edge structure and extended X-ray absorption fine structure analyses confirm the atomic dispersion of Pd via Pd-O-Ce coordination, while density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal strong metal-support interactions (SMSI) that facilitate electron transfer from CeO oxygen to Pd, downshifting the Pd d-band center and optimizing H activation.

Disinfectant wipes are widely used to reduce microbial contamination on surfaces, yet there is limited information on how viruses are physically removed or chemically inactivated during wiping. This study aimed to address this gap by comparing the contributions of physical removal and chemical inactivation to overall disinfection efficacy. Glass and vinyl coupons were contaminated with SARS-CoV-2 surrogates, bovine coronavirus (BCoV), or human coronavirus OC43, at an initial titer of 5-6 log TCID/surface with 5% soil load.

Through horizontal gene transfer, closely related bacterial strains assimilate distinct sets of genes, resulting in significantly varied lifestyles.
