The American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) was founded in 2003 with a mission to build a unified community for physician-scientist trainees. Over the past 2 decades, the APSA has played a pivotal role in fostering the development of future physician-scientists through mentorship, advocacy, and professional development. This year, the APSA hosted its 20th Annual Meeting in Chicago in collaboration with the Association of American Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Investigation.

Forward steps, lingering gaps: gender representation among distinguished speakers at professional conferences.

Bioscience

September 2025

Ruckelshaus Institute, Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming, United States.

Plenary speakers serve as role models for early-career scholars, and these talks advance the speakers' careers while celebrating the important scientific contributions of women. Professional conferences are an ideal venue for assessing progress toward equity goals across disciplines. We examined gender disparities among distinguished speakers at North American ecology conferences from 2000 to 2023.

The genus celebrates 100 y since its discovery in 1925 by Martinus Willem Beijerinck, who worked with as a starting species. Decades of work involving laboratory and field research endorse their various beneficial properties, such as plant rooting, mineral nutrition, hormonal strengthening, and the activation of cellular and molecular responses, which lead to better growth, development, and productivity. Some hormones, such as auxins and cytokinins, potentiate root branching through their effects on mitosis, and via signal transduction mediated by the Target Of Rapamycin (TOR) kinase.

Expanding the landscape of lysine acetylation stoichiometry and clinical impact.

J Proteomics

August 2025

Department of Translational Medicine, Lund University, Lund, Sweden. Electronic address:

Lysine acetylation, once viewed primarily as a histone mark, is now recognized as a widespread regulator of protein function. Recent breakthroughs in chemical labeling, isotopic tagging workflows, and data-independent acquisition mass spectrometry enable precise, site-specific quantification of acetylation stoichiometry. This quantitative "acetylomics" approach reveals a "rheostat" model, where most acetylation sites exhibit low occupancy, acting as subtle modulators, while a subset of highly acetylated lysines (e.
