Aging is a natural phenomenon characterized by the loss of normal morphology and physiological functioning of the body, causing wrinkles on the skin, loss of hair, and compromised immune systems. Peptide therapies have emerged as a promising approach in aging studies because of their excellent tolerability, low immunogenicity, and high specificity. Computational methods can significantly expedite wet lab-based anti-aging peptide discovery by predicting potential candidates with high specificity and efficacy. We propose AAGP, an anti-aging peptide predictor based on diverse physicochemical and compositional features. Two datasets were constructed, both shared anti-aging peptides as positives, with the first using antimicrobial peptides as negatives and the second using random peptides as negatives. Peptides were encoded using 4,305 features, followed by adaptive feature selection with a heuristic algorithm on both datasets. Nine machine learning models were used for cross-validation and independent tests. AAGP achieves reasonably accurate prediction performance, with MCCs of 0.692 and 0.580 and AUCs of 0.963 and 0.808 on the two independent test datasets, respectively. Our feature importance analysis shows that physicochemical features are more crucial for the first dataset, whereas compositional features hold greater importance for the second. The source code of AAGP is available at https://github.com/saptawtf/AAGP .

Background: The objective of this study was to compare the effects of daily consumption of white potatoes compared with white rice on cardiometabolic health in individuals with type-2 diabetes (T2D).
Objective: To determine the effects of white potato consumption compared to white rice (a commonly consumed refined grain) on indices of glycemic control and cardiovascular health in individuals with overweight or obesity and T2D.
Methods: In this randomized crossover study, comparative control trial, 24 adults with T2D [45-80 y, body mass index (kg/m) 25-40] consumed baked white potatoes (100 g) or calorie-matched white rice (75 g) daily for 12 wk, separated by a 2-wk washout, with assessments of glycemic control, lipids, inflammation, blood pressure, endothelial function, and body composition at baseline (only 1 baseline visit included as a covariate in statistical analyses), 6 wk, and 12 wk.

Lemon balm (), a perennial herb belonging to the Lamiaceae family, is widely recognized for its medicinal properties and therapeutic benefits. This review offers a detailed exploration of the botanical features, phytochemical composition, and pharmacological uses of , highlighting key bioactive compounds such as phenolic acids (including rosmarinic and caffeic acids), flavonoids, essential oils (such as citral and citronellal), and triterpenoids (ursolic and oleanolic acids). Advanced extraction techniques, such as ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), and matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD), have greatly improved the efficiency of extraction, the preservation of bioactivity, and the sustainability of acquiring these bioactive compounds.

Topochemical reduction of the n = 2 Ruddlesden-Popper oxide, LaSrCoRuO, yields LaSrCoRuO, a phase containing (Co/Ru)O squares which share corners to form 1D infinite double-chains. In contrast, fluorination of LaSrCoRuO yields the oxyfluoride LaSrCoRuOF, which can then be reduced to form LaSrCoRuOF. This reduced oxyfluoride is almost isoelectronic with LaSrCoRuO, but LaSrCoRuOF has a crystal structure in which the (Co/Ru)O squares are connected into 2D infinite sheets.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) associated with usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) harbours distinct features compared to lung adenocarcinoma without UIP. Therefore, we aimed to characterise the tumour microenvironment of LUAD with UIP by focusing on cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and stromal composition. Immunohistochemistry was performed on 32 LUAD samples (16 each with and without UIP) to evaluate CAF marker expression and lymphocyte infiltration.

Hemostatic intervention at the bleeding site during early-phase wound management plays a crucial role in reducing trauma-induced complications and mortality, while advanced wound dressings facilitate hemorrhage control, exudate management, and antimicrobial protection to promote optimal healing outcomes. To address these issues, we developed a multifunctional collagen/silk fibroin/Mg(OH)₂ (Col/SF/Mg(OH)₂) composite sponge combining enhanced mechanical strength, rapid hemostasis, and broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. The incorporation of silk fibroin (SF) through covalent crosslinking increased the elastic modulus by 4.
