Teleproctoring offers a remote alternative to traditional surgical mentoring, addressing logistical barriers in robotic surgery education. We conducted a prospective trial to assess the feasibility and trainee perception of teleproctoring using the Proximie platform. Eighteen surgeons with limited robotic experience performed a standardized enterotomy closure on synthetic bowel models using the da Vinci Si system, while receiving real-time remote guidance from an expert located 2570 km away.

Quartz is among the most abundant minerals on Earth, but its surface chemistry under varying pH conditions remains not fully understood. In particular, the interplay between pH, amphoteric behavior, and water adsorption properties has been the subject of a long-standing debate. This study presents a comprehensive, multitechnique investigation into the pH-dependent interfacial chemistry of quartz.

Background: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disorder with a largely unknown duration and pathophysiology of the pre-diagnostic phase, especially for the common non-monogenic form.

Methods: We leveraged the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort with up to 30 years of follow-up to identify incident ALS cases across five European countries. Pre-diagnostic plasma samples from initially healthy participants underwent high-throughput proteomic profiling (7,285 protein markers, SomaScan).

Adipocyte-specific IGF1R knockout activates the β-catenin/apelin axis to combat diet-induced obesity in male mice.

Diabetes Obes Metab

Institute of Genome Engineered Animal Models for Human Diseases, National Center of Genetically Engineered Animal Models for International Research, Dalian Medical University, Dalian, China.

Aims: Obesity, driven by complex genetic and environmental interactions, remains a global health crisis with limited therapeutic options. The insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) plays dual roles in metabolism and growth, but its tissue-specific functions in adipose biology are controversial. This study investigates how adipose-specific IGF1R knockout impacts systemic metabolism under high-fat diet (HFD) stress and explores the underlying mechanisms.
