Article Abstract

We demonstrate the use of finite-size fermionic projected entangled pair states, in conjunction with variational Monte Carlo, to perform accurate simulations of the ground state of the 2D Hubbard model. Using bond dimensions of up to D=28, we show that we can surpass state-of-the-art density matrix renormalization group energies that use up to m=32 000 SU(2) multiplets on eight-leg ladders. We further apply our methodology to 10×16, 12×16, and 16×16 lattices at 1/8 hole doping and observe the dimensional crossover between stripe orientations. Our Letter shows the power of finite-size fermionic tensor networks to resolve the physics of the 2D Hubbard model and related problems.

Background: Opioid exposure during cancer therapy may increase long-term unsafe opioid prescribing. This study sought to determine the rates of coprescription of benzodiazepine and opioid medications and new persistent opioid use after surgical treatment of early-stage cancer.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted among a US veteran population via the Veterans Affairs Corporate Data Warehouse database.

Aims/hypothesis: CIDEB (cell death-inducing DFF45-like effector B) deficiency is associated with a reduced incidence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in humans; however, the underlying mechanism responsible for this protective effect remains unclear.

Methods: C57BL/6J male mice were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) to recapitulate key aspects of MASLD and hepatic insulin resistance. Cideb knockdown (KD) was achieved using a 2'-O-methoxyethyl (MOE) antisense oligonucleotide (ASO).

Background: Asthma with low levels of T2-biomarkers is poorly understood.

Objective: To characterize severe asthma phenotypes and compare pre- to post-biologic change in asthma outcomes along a gradient of T2-involvement.

Methods: This was a registry-based, cohort study including data from 24 countries.

Spin bond order driven by extended repulsive interactions in doped graphene.

We use the truncated-unity functional renormalization group (TUFRG) to study many-body instabilities of correlated electrons in graphene doped near the van Hove singularity (VHS). The system is described by an extended Hubbard model including several Coulomb repulsions between neighboring sites. With the repulsion parameters, which turn out to be suitable for low-energy consideration of graphene, we find a spin-bond-order phase in the vicinity of the VHS.
