Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Gastrodia elata, also known as Chijian, belongs to the Orchidaceae family of plants. The "Compendium of Materia Medica" records that Gastrodia elata treats "confused speech, excessive fear, and loss of willpower". Gastrodin (GAS) is the main bioactive component of Gastrodia elata.

The rapid increase of electronic waste, particularly battery waste, presents significant environmental challenges such as pollutant emissions and resource depletion, emphasizing the need for effective valorization and reuse strategies. This study introduces a novel approach for repurposing end-of-life lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries as catalysts in the pyrolysis of walnut shells (WS). Characterization analyses revealed that LFP provides both Lewis and Brønsted acid sites, which alter the thermal decomposition pathway of WS.

The cooking process exerts a notable influence on the flavor characteristics of fish. E-nose, GC-MS, and GC-IMS technologies were utilized to investigate how three thermal processing methods (steaming, frying, and roasting) alter the volatile odors of paddy field carp (PFC). GC-MS and GC-IMS analyses indicated that the volatile compound compositions of steaming and raw samples were relatively similar.

Marine heatwaves (MHWs) are increasing in frequency and intensity worldwide, significantly impacting marine ecosystems. However, studies on phytoplankton community changes in coastal waters under such conditions remain. In the summer of 2024, an extreme high-temperature event (>28 °C) occurred in the southern coastal waters of Korea, providing an opportunity to investigate phytoplankton community dynamics under thermal stress.
