Article Abstract

We identified patterns of health and functioning in a national sample of dementia family caregivers experiencing chronic pain ( = 273). Utilizing latent profile analysis of the 29-item Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS-29), we identified three discrete groups: an average group (48%), a low health challenges group (30%), and a high health challenges group (22%). Women were more likely to be in the high (vs. low) health challenges group. There are discrete health patterns of caregivers with chronic pain, with over 20% reporting comorbid poor health and functioning that may negatively affect caregiving quality. Screening caregivers for high impact pain in clinical settings should be considered and prioritizing these caregivers for interventions may be an efficient use of resources.

Problem: Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to pelvic pain and infertility. Recent studies have indicated that immunological, endocrine, biochemical, and genetic irregularities, along with suboptimal quality of oocytes, embryos, and the endometrial environment, significantly impact infertility associated with endometriosis. Ectopic endometrial cells in endometriosis have the capacity to avoid apoptosis.

Tattoos and permanent make-up (PMU) gain increasing popularity among the general population. There are indications that pigments or their fragments may translocate within the body, however knowledge about possible systemic adverse effects related to tattoos is very limited. We investigated the prevalence of systemic chronic health effects including cardiovascular diseases, cancer and liver toxicity and their relationship with the presence and characteristics of tattoos and PMU as part of the LIFE-Adult-study, a population-based cohort study.

Background: Chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve induces neuropathic pain, inflammation, oxidative stress, and neurodegenerative changes, impairing sensory and emotional function. While curcumin is well recognized for its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, its therapeutic use is limited by poor bioavailability. Curcumin liposomal nanoparticles (CLNs) offer improved delivery and stability.

However, emerging evidence highlights its increasing prevalence among middle-aged adults (40-59 years), a population critical to socioeconomic stability. This study is designed to assess the burden of OA among middle-aged adults.
