Point-of-care (POC) detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is critical for the early screening and monitoring of prostate cancer (PCa), which facilitates timely intervention and personalized treatment. However, existing POC platforms suffer from inadequate detection sensitivities, susceptibility to matrix interference, and complex sample pretreatment. To address these issues, we proposed a naked-eye and colorimetric sensing platform based on magnetic nanozyme (FeO@ZIF-67@Pt) integrated with a tetrahedral DNA framework (TDF) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)-triggered hydrolysis reaction for PSA detection with superior sensing performances.

To develop a sustained transdermal drug delivery system for gout treatment, double-layered patches containing allopurinol (ALP) were prepared using starch, chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol, and plasticizers. The chitosan-based first layer was designed to modulate the ALP release from the starch-based second layer, enabling sustained drug delivery for continuous therapeutic effect. The physicochemical properties of ALP and the prepared patches were characterized by physical properties, FE-SEM, FT-IR, H NMR and C NMR.

Objectives: Implantation of biomaterials generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the peri-implant microenvironment. Bone loss occurs when ROS levels exceed the local antioxidant capacity. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of vitamin C-incorporated polycaprolactone (PCL-Vit C) membrane in scavenging ROS and enhancing biomineralisation in osteoblast-osteoclast (OB-OC) co-culture system.

Ovarian stem cells (OSCs) are a promising tool for reproductive regeneration, but ethical concerns surrounding fetal bovine serum (FBS) use have prompted the search for viable alternatives. This study estimates alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity-a pluripotency marker-in two OSC lines (OTC-5, OTC-7) cultured with FBS and with potential replacements: cord blood serum (CB), follicular fluid (FF), and pooled platelet lysate (PP). ALP activity was quantified using a colorimetric p-nitrophenyl phosphate assay.

Mimicking the structure of natural enzymes can reproduce their similar high catalytic activity. Herein, Ru-Se dual single atomic sites on nitrogen-doped carbon catalysts (RuSe-N/C) are fabricated by an atomic capture strategy. Se atoms replace partial pyridinic N sites in RuSe-N/C, which results in undulating structure and high structural similarity to β-sheets in the protein.
